Where is the outrage over "outrageous" food prices?
TownHall ^ | Aug. 10, 2012 | Carol Platt Liebau

....the Obama campaign is trying hard to "reach out" to women -- ....with false claims about the GOP's plans to take away contraception.... But for women who are really paying attention, this should raise some eyebrows: As the graphic below illustrates, grocery prices have risen 15% just since the start of President Obama's term.

Why isn't the press talking about the out-of-control food prices? Do they not actually go to the grocery store? Do they have so much money, they aren't impacted by the upward-spiraling prices? Do they just scan their debit card and never really pay attention to what something costs? I truly don't get it!

The only lame reports I do hear, usually say something like "food prices increased one and a half percent last year"! Say what? I'd be willing to bet prices are increasing more than 10% A MONTH! Yesterday, I was shopping for a pot roast. A medium size chuck roast cost $18.47! Good grief! I can't be the only one who is astounded at this. Peanut butter costs over $4 a jar. Jelly is just about as bad. I find myself having to buy hamburger or chicken (fish is outrageous!) and I still pay about double what I paid 3 years ago.

Come on Fox (or anyone) - all you have to do is go to a local grocery store and interview the people at the meat counter, the peanut butter aisle or in the check out line! How hard would it be to examine the actual "buying power" of the average family income, now compared to when good-ol George was president?

What do you think the average housewife is more concerned about - food prices or making the Catholic church pay for abortifacients for its workers?

One of my grocery stores changed out their metal slatted carts with ones that are plastic with quarter-sized openings, rather than slats, in the basket area.

That was probably because — with so much product shrinkage — too many items kept slipping through the slats and falling onto the floor.

:)

[I detest product shrinkage. Just raise the price. I would rather pay more for products I use than get less for the same price.]

This is just one more topic (hyper-inflation) that the MSM has declared off limits. Should Romney win it will become a major topic for tv and press reports. Count on it.

Inflation rate does not count food or fuel. I say BS!

Self Serving Bastards should be hung.

That's why Romney should be talking about it RIGHT NOW! Romney's people should be standing outside grocery stores, talking to people who just paid half a weeks' salary to pay for food.

Make it an issue! Quit letting the left and the mainstream media determine the conversation!

We keep being told that the inflation rate doesn't include food or fuel and we're expected to be good little children, go back to our corner and quit noticing the cost of stuff!

Romney - if you would talk to the average housewife, trying to feed her family, you would get a lot further than you do trying to defend your position on contraception. (Contraception isn't even an issue, except to the "Distractor in Chief"!)

I never could figure that one out either. I wonder what the REAL inflation rate would be if they were counted in?

Romney needs to fire that worthless, feckless excuse of a campaign director RIGHT NOW! That is, if he's really interested in having even the dimmest flicker of hope of winning in November.

As much as I hate Karl Rove, boy can he run a campaign.

I would also bring in someone who would make Obama’s life a miserable hell for the next 10 weeks.

Me.

Blame high fuel costs.

But, don’t overlook the Dems and Eviro-whackos KILLING of some of the most fertile farmland in America.

The population control crowd also happen to be anti-capitalist, anti-industry, socialists, who don’t want America to be feeding, and developing the 3rd world.

They’re the same ones that banned DDT, when they learned how many millions of lives were being saved in the 3rd world. (Nat’l Geographic, July 2007)

If Romney wins, all of a sudden we’ll be bombarded with “high grocery prices”, “high gas prices” “military deaths in Afghanistan”, “how dangerous Iran is”, “the homeless”, “sad stories of the unemployed”, and a myriad of other topics currently off limits in the “Democrat-Media” coverup.

Me too. It is so dumb for them to do it. That is what they want to do with soda...20 ounces instead of 32....just raise the dang price of the 32 ounce. Heck he get rapped on fountain drinks anyway but I want to buy a drink that will be adequate for me...not a drink that I have to buy two and figure out where to put the dang thing especially on a long trip.

Obama and minions busily scream, holler and point - “LOOK OVER THERE INSTEAD OF OVER HERE!!” - in order to divert the attention of the gullible away from the REAL PROBLEMS Obama’s created since he’s been in office. - Dear God! Please deliver us from this horror!!

Romney is running a terrible campaign at this point. Good news...there's still time to right the ship...but it's running out.

This is why I supported Gingrich. Can you imagine Newt in this situation? He'd be hammering away at the phony in the White House.

When is someone in the GOP going to bring up Rezko? Or Obama’s strange lack of credentials? Where are his records?

Are these people incompetent?

Food is free, didn't you know that? Obamas peeps don't have to pay for prime rib, you buy it for them.

Why should they care what you pay.

You make some very good points but I must tell you about the liberal I met at the meat counter recently. He walked up beside me, looked at the price of a few steaks and said “are they feeding the cows gold now?”, then he said “I’ll tell you why these prices are so high, it’s deregulation!” Last I saw of him he was still looking at the steaks and talking on his cell, probably calling Obama about regulating cows. True story!

Wait until HR2751 (FDA food Takeover Bill) is fully implemented.

And wait until the drought in the midwest is over and they start rebuilding cattle herds. Cattle prices recently dropped because of another herd sell off because of drought.

You haven’t seen anything yet.

We are retired Military and the Navy Commissary...and their prices are on par or slightly higher than Kroger’s which is the large food store for our area. Only difference is instead of a 9.75% sales tax, there is a 5% restock fee for the Commissary. BUT unlike Kroger’s which doubles my coupons up to .60, the Commissary takes them at face value. With Kroger’s if I spend a $100 a month I get 10 cents off on gas to boot and that goes up by 10 cents for every $100 I spend. I shop Kroger’s 95% of the time. Commissary has better quality meat.

Exchange prices are geared to to Top Brass’s pockets, not the common enlisted persons. $200 for a stinking Vera cloth wallet, made in china for a $1.
