A source inside the Romney campaign confirms the GOP nominee has raised over $1.5 million dollars since announcing Rep. Paul Ryan as the vice presidential selection five hours ago and they expect to double that number by the end of the day.
A Romney advisor told Breitbart News:
Romney has raised $1.5 million since announcing Ryan. We expect over 30,000 individual donations by end of the day, and are likely to surpass the $3 million mark in the first 24 hours alone.
For a campaign that was already heavily outpacing the Obama re-election effort in fundraising, these numbers serve as instant affirmation that the Romney/Ryan ticket appeals to a broad base of Republican voters.
As Breitbart News' Dana Loesch pointed out, grassroots conservatives are fired up about the selection of the Chairman of the House Budget Committee and they are proving it with the remarkable number of individual donations Team Romney is expecting today.

Obama must be defeated
Made my 1st donation yesterday with the Ryan pick.
Obama's campaign falls under the same rules but as Obama did not have to fight a primary campaign, he had the luxury of waiting until the GOP nominee was determined before spending any significant monies. Therefore, Obama was able to heavily outspend Romney all summer long.
Soon the battle will be joined and it appears that Romney will be able to outspend Obama when it matters - from Labor Day to the election itself. In the meantime, the Ryan pick will give Romney plenty of news coverage up to the convention. So finally, the Obama dominance of the airwaves has come to an end.
What a deal to effectively neuter one of the best people in Congress for four years.

Gave other donations to Mitt every time he said something I like - I might actually max out. Can’t think of a more important election in my lifetime.

Campaigns like McAuliffe's that are focused above all else on money, and that put out self-congratulatory press releases about their "grassroots organization" and their Noah's Ark of big-name consultants, frequently forget that money can't buy two other M's: message and momentum. As a campaign manager, I'd much, much rather be running the guy with a message and no money versus the guy with money and no message. Why? Because the guy with a message will eventually find momentum, which will deliver all the money he needs when he needs it.
Of course, political consultants (and, disclosure: I'm one), like early money and quarterly numbers stories because they determine whether and how much they will get paid. But the reality is that money rarely translates into votes, particularly when fundraising is a fig leaf covering up glaring flaws in a candidate's argument. Ask Terry McAuliffe, Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Giuliani (who raised more than any other Republican from individuals, all for a single delegate) what having big, early bundler money gets you.
What good is it if one of the best people in Congress stays for the next four years and you have re elected a president who ignores Congress and issues EOs and pillages the country because no one can stop him?
How effective would Ryan be then?
You have a very god point, plus, setting him up for POTUS in the future.
So he's ineffectual in my scenario, and ineffectual in your scenario. What are we arguing about, again?
If Romney wins Ryan is not ineffectual. I don’t agree with your premise.
He'll be in the Senate (as President), where he will likely be needed to break ties, and, more importantly, will be making economic policy that will actually get passed, like tax reform.
This was a bold pick, and I'm glad to see it.
Except that the guy with money and no message won in 2008. He won't have the money advantage this time.
Plus, the idiot that wrote the blog piece left out the obvious - raising large sums in short order is a clear sign of momentum. People donate when they see a winner, and that's why Romney's cash is rolling in. Picking Ryan has sealed the deal with millions of right-leaning voters.
