LOS ANGELES (AP) — Gabby Douglas admitted indulging in post-Olympics fast food to the wrong person: First lady and healthy eating advocate Michelle Obama, who teased the gymnastics champion.
"You're setting me back, Gabby," Obama told Douglas during a taping Monday for NBC's "Tonight Show," according to a network transcript. "Sorry!" replied the 16-year-old athlete, who confessed to chowing down on a McDonalds' breakfast sandwich after winning two gold medals at the just-ended London Olympics.
Douglas became the third straight U.S. athlete and first African-American to win the all-around title. She and her teammates gave the U.S. its first Olympic title in women's gymnastics since 1996.

Just reading the NBC transcript does no justice to this total non story. It was a very light hearted echange, with much laughter on everyone’s part.

What’s wrong with an egg mcmuffin? Under 300 calories, loaded with protein - I pick one up every day on my way home after my morning workout to go with a bowl of oatmeal, a bananna and a half gallon of skim milk.

I saw it on the news this morning and thought it was pretty cute. Some here think they are at DU where they have to get mad at everything. There is NO WAY that we are going to be able to bitch and complain about them making fun of the next First Lady. If you give it out, you need to take it. I hope Mrs. Romney has thick skin because she will be crusified and the conservatives can’t say a word. Conservatives make fun of Michelle’s hair, clothes, looks, etc. Mrs. Romney should be open to be made fun of on every thing except the MS.
Have you purchased a Happy Meal for your daughter lately? They come with about ten French fries and a plastic baggy of rotted apple slices. And have you looked at school menus from around the country? People are not amused.

If MO actually practiced what she preached, she would get more respect. But she is constantly chowing down on fattening food, which makes her a hypocrite. If the woman had any class, she would have praised Gabby for being a fit athelete and an excellent role model for young people, and left off any snarky remarks.

My daughter is quite familiar with Mrs. Obama’s stand on fast food and thinks it’s none of her business - but even she laughed when she saw the clip on the news this morning.
Does she have any idea how many calories an Olympic Athlete burn a day? Does she realize they ain't gonna build a lot of muscle being vegan they need protein? Has she ever fed an Athlete training at this level? I know someone that does, and their secret weapon is a home-made egg-a-muffin w/ bacon to get the "B" vitamins for their brain to keep them focused before an event. Hopefully when these kids make it, get the Gold and visit the Whitehouse, they will not have a sanctimonious food Guru their to bust their chops...
One of my personal favorite outcomes from The One losing in November will be the disappearance of Moochie from the airwaves, especially NBC w/Leno and the Today Show.
And it was supposed to be “cute” when The First Lady chastized Gabby that that Egg McMuffin had better have been on Wheat bread at least and we know it wasnt as they don’t sell wheat muffins at McDonalds.
Even if MO ought to be in prison (and I think there's a far better case against BO, Holder, and others in the administration than against MO herself), that doesn't mean that every single thing she does is an outrage. It was a joke. Gabby took it as such. Leno took it as such. Anyone who wasn't LOOKING for an outrage took it as such. Lighten up.

The jab about, “It better have been on whole wheat bread at least” was the kind of snarky remark a total A-hole would make. I don’t care how cute or way you sugar coat it. Those are the remarks of a scumbag. And when Moochelle asked her, Gabby nodded meekly that it was Whole wheat (which we know it wasnt as McDonalds doesn;t offer whole wheat muffins for Egg mcMuffins) to get her off her back. All jokes aside, Michelle Obama is simply a bully.
Her behavior towards her husband, her kids, and anyone unfortunate enough to interact with her clearly demonstrates this. She attempts to conceal it with a smile or a nervous laugh but it’s still quite obvious.
What I’m really surprised at that I have not read on here yet or even in the hundreds of comments from the original Yahoo source of this story, No one mentioned the segment of her screwing with the Secret Service who are paid to protect her and she will do crap to make their job more difficult. Moochelle was laughing about it but I did not find it funny at all. It seems the reports of her distain for the Secret Service is more true than I thought after hearing her own words saying as such.
This was nothing more than lighthearted banter - y'know, the type of back-and-forth that is typical on late night talk shows like Leno.
Moreover, you're wrong. Douglas very clearly did mention a salad, jokingly. And when MO said something (again, jokingly) to the effect of "I'm sure it was on a whole wheat muffin," LENO (not Douglas) said something about it being on a whole wheat bun.

Obama didn't finish her sentence before Gabby says, "A salad" which is odd and there is no reason she would have mentioned it other than she timed it wrong from where they rehearsed it.
