Should Mitt Romney’s tax returns be a campaign issue?

Yes. As a presidential candidate, Romney is obligated to be more transparent

No. I don’t care if he releases his returns, and I don’t care how much he’s paid in taxes

Only if Dems have hard proof that his tax bills were inordinately low

“Why should you release stuff when it is not required. Do you release all your records to your neighbors if they ask you to so they will like you better? Whats the point if you don’t like Romney and you think he is “dodgy” don’t vote for
him but don’t for a second believe that a release of Romney records will produce Obama records to be released. Obama lies.”

1. I think you missed my point. I never said do it to make anyone like him better.
2. The neighbors thing is dumb. I’m not asking my neighbors to run my country and I don’t even need to trust them too much.
3. I never said either I didn’t like him or I thought he was dodgey. I said show us whether there was dodgy tax games played - there’s a big difference there.
4. I never suggested that if he released more records Obama would release his...I don’t believe that for a minute. I think it would highlight who the real secretive bastard with something to hide in the race is.
5. To my knowledge, there is no legal requirement, but it has been customary to release multiple years...not just one and a promise.

Aside from that, I’m gonna have to admit, you really got me on that post!

It’s nobody’s damned business, if the IRS has no problems with his returns, then I have no problem with them.

Romney should tell them to pound sand.

“I disagree with you. The administration and media will run nonstop stories if he does release them, and will just be another distraction from the issues at hand.”

You mean, as opposed to what they are doing now?

“This would be cow towing to them, and I think Romney is right in not giving in to them. It would show that he can be bullied.”

I think it would be more like cow tipping. And it would not show anything but the fact that he has nothing to hide.

“Nope, it won’t serve any purpose for him to do so, and personally, I don’t care.”

Huh. You don’t care...then the point of your post was?

Yes. As a presidential candidate, Romney is obligated to be more transparent 7.59% - You know, like Obama has been.

No. I don’t care if he releases his returns, and I don’t care how much he’s paid in taxes 86.11% - I don’t give a flip what Romney has paid in taxes, I care about how much I am going to have to pay if Obama remains in office.

Only if Dems have hard proof that his tax bills were inordinately low 6.3% - But we all know that democrats don’t need proof.

The funny thing is that if they are 13.6, it is because of most of his income is taxed at the capital gains rate, which is lower than income tax, and the fact that he gave so much to charity..He probably tithes, which means last year he would have given over 2 million..In contrast, biden gives about $50 per year..

I wouldn’t give them a damn thing. Why do they need it? To go through some extremely complicated returns to twist things out of it, what is the upside? axle rod took this same tack with Clinton.

Most of his income was paid as capital gains, which is 15%. Also,he probably tithes, so that could lower the rate to 13.9%. I pay about the same rate for the same reasons, so his statement is very believable to me.

I would suspect that Romney made the decision at least 6 or 7 years ago to consider running for President. I am sure his tax returns for at least that period of time are squeaky clean. Only a fool would not make sure that there were no skeletons in that particular closet. He may have had what most of us would probably consider a lot of income, but it may not have been taxable. Romney may be a lot of things but IMO he’s no fool.

They forgot the 4th and best option: Release them if and only if Obama releases all his sealed crap.

Yeah, if he’s not going to release his tax returns anyway, he should claim he’s been paying 28%.

Poll question for tomorrow

Should Barack Obama’s college transcripts, Passports, multiple citizenships, Social Security number, Place of Birth, sexual preferences, financial records while in Chicago, be campaign issues?

FReeEEeePED:

Results as of 4:30 California time:

Yes. As a presidential candidate, Romney is obligated to be more transparent 7.59%

No. I don’t care if he releases his returns, and I don’t care how much he’s paid in taxes 86.06%

Only if Dems have hard proof that his tax bills were inordinately low 6.35%

Romney’s taxes are a diversionary tactic to keep attention off of 0bama’s miserable record!!!

I wish the so-called conservatives would stop wringing their hands over this and LAUGH it off for the silly notion that it is.

“diversionary tactic”

with the press-titutes beating the drum, it will get some traction.

Or even higher ~ I found it unbelievable that he'd admit to 13% ~ is he terminally stupid?

Nobody who pays pays that ~ they pay LOTS MORE!

Someone needs to ask the usurper who paid the taxes on that Chicago house of his down the street from Ayers. Hint: he didn’t.

No, is wasn’t Rezko. The name “Obama” is nowhere on the deed. There is the femal professor who lives in the guest house, a lawyer, a trust and maybe more. Hussein might be part of the trust but as of yet, that hasn’t been proven (don’t know if Rezko is in on the trust). It was the lawyer who paid the taxes.

IOW, that house is a front.
