Word For The Day, August 21, 2012

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

velleity [vuh-LEE-i-tee]

-n

1. Volition in its weakest form.
2. A mere wish, unaccompanied by an effort to obtain it.

truthy has me excited to see 2016, based on his account of the reaction in the NEW JERSEY audience! it's opening here in VA on friday the 24th, as it is in upstate NY [Ti it is going to be in B'hamton as well as the carousel mall in Syracuse] I also saw Delmont, Greensburg and Pittsburgh Mills listed for the 24th opening.

RUnning around in 101 degree heat all day yesterday brings me to the realization that I need to start exercising and lose weight. However that wish is sheer velleity as of now.

I was looking for it last weekend. Based on the ads I figured it had opened already.

So we went to the drive-in instead. Sarah’s first time. You’d like it. You can bring your dogs. We didn’t bring ours, but may next time.

don’t think we have any down here, but Jules and Chan would enjoy seeing a film in the car! had to have xshub stop for batteries for the electric collar last night. i was outside in the flower bed talking to my lawnguy about what i need done, and Jules crossed the line where the electric fence is and was sucking the Roundup off the dang weeds.
xsboy leaves for school on thursday, so the plan is for me to make dinner for he and his cronies tonight. i am going to grill steaks, make twicebaked potatoes, green salad, fruit salad and brownies and ice cream.

You can bring your lawn chairs and stuff, too. Don’t have to sit in the car.

They’re teenage boys. You can probably get away with just baking the potatoes once. ;-)

Our ideals get merely velleity
From The One who’s compared to a deity.
Yet without TOTUS’ screen
He comes off very mean,
With a total lack of spontaneity.

To the Left, a balanced budget’s a velleity
Because Socialism’s their exalted deity
They love abortions, unions, gays
And the one god Oboma prays
To: God of Groupthink, also known—Homogeneity

Obama may not just have a velleity to stay in office, but someone thinks he is planning a power grab. "This is enough ammunition to empty five rounds into the body of every living American citizen," writes Major General Curry, who wonders what plan might require "so many dead Americans." Holy crap. Someone actually believes this and printed it.

I want to win and control the House/Senate and White House. Akins shot himself in the foot. A fool. I am ready to move on.

On a brighter note (RME) I am headed to Ithaca, City of Evil, for lunch today. My friend moved away eons ago. Her husband died recently and she is back visiting her family. They moved to Ithaca after she left. Cannot wait to see her. Her daughter and mine were friends, still are via FB. Her son was friends with my son. Sleepovers galore. I am looking forward to it, just hope it’s not too melancholy. I hope I brighten her day.

We had the dedication for our new office building this morning. Cong. Tim Murphy was here for about 10 minutes. Sen. Toomey sent a proxy. I moved in yesterday. No more offices with doors, everyone is in cubicles. At least I have a bit of a window.

We moved some stuff from my mom’s house yesterday. I have a lazy boy and a love seat for my Forman’s basement now.

Getting the riding lawn mower today.

Tomorrow is another morning.

I watched your Stillers this weekend - did you see “my” Baron Batch make that really great (although it looked almost staged it was so unreal) block so your “flipper” could make a TD? Seriously, that entire run looked staged - Baron blocked two guys, looked like he only touched one, and both fell down like dominos...... But glad to see Baron back playing - hope he makes the team.

She is getting around just fine now, you’d never know she had her knee replaced. I think the doctor scolded her for not doing her exercises.

We have a buyer for the house, hopefully we’ll be all done in a week or so. Extra repairs and stuff are not happy times for my mom, but she’s taking it in stride a little bit.

We went to put the T-bird in a storage unit 2 weeks ago and the thing stopped and wouldn’t re-start right at the gate. 2 weeks and $1200 later we finally got it in.

Well it was an incredible run by your guy but honestly, the entire thing was so unreal it looked staged - guys falling with no apparent reason - then that idiotic back flip as he crossed into the end zone. I recall that show off, adrian peterson doing that when he played for ou and broke his collar bone......I don’t usually laugh when someone gets hurt but he deserved it for showboating like that

Not so hot today-it is getting toward the time of the year whern there is a subtle change in the look of the clouds in the early evening, and (at least out here in the hinterlands) the scent of the vegetation that means Fall is not too many weeks away...

The Obama minions’ velleity
Is simply more of the same-
But if there is work required
That ends their “gimme” game

If they want goods and services
From cash to government cheese
They could always worship Putin
And become dependent by degrees

When they have to work or else
It certainly won’t look nice-
When you drink socialist koolaid
There’s always a steep price

I’m convinced that Akin shot himself in the foot, reloaded and shot himself in the other foot-and where did he get his information on female biology-from the Taliban? Imams who preach sharia? He needs to just shut up, go away and let someone with a brain run for senate.

What bothers me is that there are ONLY 100 senators in the Senate and Akin is hardly one of the 100 smartest men in the country.

Isn't the real question, is Akin smarter than McCaskill ?

The idiots, in this equation are the party Solons that were calling for his ouster, without finding out quietly if he was willing to go....

Now all they done is throw fuel on the fire in a manner that the Democrat party never does, EXCEPT when the miscreant is a Republican.

Ted Kennedy drove a girl off the bridge. Frank allowed his lover to pimp boys out of his apartment. McGreevy was having clandestine liasons in Turnpike rest stops.

and a sitting President of the United States was CREDIBLY accused of FORCIBLE RAPE ON NATIONAL Television.

No outrage there.

And we're forcing a Senate candidate out for speaking stupidly.

Every one turning against Akin, should never ever criticize the Republicans as the stupid party, because that's the behavior being advocated.

I doubt that anyone knew what a dolt he was when he won the primary-if they had, one of the other 2 candidates would have won. He needs to be ousted, no matter how ugly it is-like I said, kicking and screaming, if that is what it takes-I heard the funds already got yanked.
