During it's Isaac coverage, the Weather Channel on Sunday referred repeatedly to Mississippi as the "landmass between New Orleans and Mobile".
Not to be outdone, a regular YP fan created a facebook page that has over 22,000 likes in less than 24 hours.

Does that mean in pickup football games you have to count “1 Landmass, 2 Landmass, 3 Landmass” before rushing the QB?

Thank GOD for that indeed! What is worse than the storm is the over the top rhetoric by all weather outlets. Weather Channel said last night (Julie somebody) that they didn't see how the Republicans could celebrate their convention while New Orleans was being hit on the 7th anniversary of Katrina. Then they mentioned Bush and his “mishandling” of that self inflicted wound (blanco, nagin and landreau). Locally they want it because the local station won awards for their coverage and they are hungry for more accolades.

Is there some old MS/LA dispute we’re supposed to remember, kind of like Hussein’s “Maldives” when he should have said Malvinas, when he wanted to show support for anyone who was against England?

Have to give him a bravo! on this one. Even if he’s still Shep- he is unashamed and loyal to his home state.

Say what you will about Foxs Shepherd Smith, Boyeee - there's a setup if ever there was one...
How about - If Shep didn't wear weights in his loafers, he'd just float away.
so I've heard...

Yesterday Jim Cantore refereed to Colonel Ed Fleming, Commander of the New Orleans District, USACE as “Mister”. That kind of stuff really irritates me.

I’m in Picayune, Landmass. It is 7:10 AM and not even a breeze...nothing. I’m sure that will change as the day goes on. WWL is showing strong winds on the southern shore of lake Pontchartrain. Where you located?

How could they forget the earthquake and hurricane we got in NY last year? Things moved a millimeter, and chairs of all sorts were turned upside down as people lost control of themselves.

We heard a lot about New Orleans being under 10 to 15 feet of water. We heard little about the greatest storm surge in American history hitting the Landmass Gulf Coast. Some estimates say that Waveland, Landmass was under more than 30 feet of water. (That’s three stories, folks.) The Landmass Gulf Coast was obliterated. My sister had just moved one month earlier to a place only a block from the beach in Gulfport, Landmass. There was nothing left above ground level at her place after the storm passed.
The storm surge at Waveland in 2005 broke the old American record from 1969 when Hurricane Camille struck the Landmass Gulf Coast with a 25 foot storm surge.

We are ready to go. Not much left but to hunker down and pray. GOD bless you all... we will come through this one too! I'm east of you, in the Florida Panhandle (Fort Walton Beach). I think Isaac has blown itself out. I'm a county utility worker and we've been preparing since last week. It may be that we'll have an easy go of it.... this time at least. Hope you have gentle winds and light rain.
