Or maybe the family didn’t want one. Ever think of that? Armstrong is a man who spent his post-Apollo 11 life avoiding the limelight. I have no idea if Obama offered or not, but the idea that Armstrong or his family would want a national circus of a funeral is ridiculous. And I really think that all these people trying to make a political issue out of it is an insult to the memory of a brave man.

The issue is whether the family was offered - not speculating what they want, but actually finding out. In order to offer, Obama has to risk a big sideshow going into the DNC. I don’t think he’ll risk it.
