Who remembers 'The Facts of Life'?

The Tomboy character Jo went on a nun's retreat in one episode and decided to become a nun. She wanted to slow down and thank God,and do something worthwhile. Also,Mrs. Garrett mentioned her faith and that no one could shake it.

I was floored! They mentioned God in a positive way,not a mocking way. Why can't more shows be like this?

We were in Yugoslavia back in 1990. Walked into a Bar in Dubrovnik and Alf was playing on the TV.

The crowd was transfixed.

My Wife and I almost fell over laughing.

Check for a good bio on Mindy Cohn. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall reading it some where. I’ve tried to search myself but can’t get through to some of the sites which would say.

The actress who played Blair’s cousin came out as a lesbian. I believe her name is Geri Jewell.

They were that into it? That’s a hoot.

I remember watching it when I was 10. I loved it.

My sister spent a semester in Russia in ‘93 or so, not long after the breakup of the USSR. The Russians were completely nuts over Dynasty, which they’d just started getting; it meshed perfectly with what they’d been taught about capitalists their entire lives.

I did. I could only stand so much of that liberal malarkey.

But at least Steven and Elise Keaton weren’t hypocrites.

She had been married (to a guy) for 12 years, but later did come out as a lesbian. She is also afflicted with Cerebral Palsy. I think she was also a stand-up comic if memory serves.

Family Ties is on Netflix and my daughters have been watching it. After about the second episode, my 11 year old said “This is a good show because the kid (Alex) is smart and the parents are stupid hippies.” I about died laughing! My other daughter said “All hippies aren’t stupid, but most do smell.” We laughed again. They also laugh when I say I had a shirt and hairstyle at one time like Malory had!

Well, yes. No surprise that black actresses would be devout Christians, especially in the 1970s. No surprise that the majority probably still are today.

But according to the MSM ALL "evangelicals" and "born again Christians" are inbred white hicks. Who probably haven't evolved enough to think civil rights= gay rights.

Notice how the media never teases out how many black Americans aren't down with the whole "gay marriage" meme, let alone the whole gay thing.

I cringed when Mrs. Garrett blurted out in an episode that she was a Democrat. A decent lady from that part of Wisconsin should’ve been a Republican.

On that trip we were sailing up the coast on a 90’ Wooden Sailing Yacht owned by my B-I-Law's Boss. The most interesting part was flying into Dubrovnik at night, flying between the Mountains.

That's where the Military Plane carrying Ron Brown crashed during the Clinton Administration. Very dangerous, if you worked for Clinton that is.

Yugoslavia was a beautiful Country, and then the War came. I was glad we got to see it before that happened. I remember every Business had a picture of Tito hanging on the wall.

I think it’s universal. When I was in Okinawa in the late ‘60s my Ryukin girlfriend wanted to watch American sitcoms, I wanted to watch Samuria movies.

“Today the tomboy character would be a lesbian.”

...an agrieved lesbian fighting neandertal conservative republicans for all the benefits afforded a man and a woman in marriage and the right to adopt children with her short haired partner.
