TURNABOUT: Now calls for Rove to go!
WND ^ | 9/1/2012

A growing list of Republicans and conservatives are calling for longtime Republican adviser Karl Rove to step away from GOP campaign efforts after the strategist jested that he might have to murder Rep. Todd Akin, R-Mo.

William Murray, who heads the Government is Not God Political Action Committee and chairs the Religious Freedom Coalition, said today that the comment “was so distasteful as to shame the entire Republican Party.”

“Congressman Akin made a misstatement on the subject of rape and conception for which he apologized,” he said. “Apparently Karl Rove believes the apology is not enough and that Akin should pay with his life. Jokes about murder are not jokes when it comes to politicians where the risks of assassination are real.”

Wow, wouldn't it be great if people on our side would learn to lighten up? For crying out loud, even a poor sense of humor is better than none at all.

I think the main constraint on the GOP lightening up is the MSM pounces on any Republican error or misstatement like a terrier and won’t let go. Meanwhile, the Democrats get a complete pass.

Could Maher still be around if he was conservative? How about Biden? Dems can say or do anything and they get a pass from the media. They can fabricate this Republican war on women and then turn around and feature Bill Clinton in their convention without a single talking head pointing out the irony and hypocrisy.

Rove should go, but not for talking out of the wrong orifice. He should go because he’s a little more than a Democrat at a 10% discount and attempts to marginalize conservative principles and ideas while he plays his chess game. Rove’s influence and PAC result in more RINOs winning elections and that’s bad for the party and country.

Unfortunately, Rove’s not going anywhere.

I’d like to see Rove go too, but there are a lot better reasons that the fact that he told a pretty lame joke. The GOP needs to lose the circular firing squad formation.

The term we seem to be seeking here is RINO.
He’s just a Republican in NAME ONLY.

Right now he wants to lead up a circular firing squad—so far, unsuccessfully. RINOs are VERY GOOD at this kind of thing, so good we hardly need an opposition.

Yes, he should go. In my mind, he already has.

Yup. I figured out the GOP game in 08 when my conservative congressman voted against TARP and the GOP threw him overboard. The NRCC stripped my congressman, Michele Bachmann, Virgil Goode and a few others of money and called them lost cause races. Bachmann won and my congressman lost by a whopping 2 points. I got stuck with a marxist who voted for Obamacare (Thank the GOP).

In 2010 we put our lost cause former congressman up against the democrats and several GOP challengers and today he's back in congress. This year he won the primary by better than 70% and the democrats don't appear to be putting up much of a fight.

At this point I really don't care what the GOP wants.

Goes to show “stupid” strikes everywhere and to everyone at least once or twice in a lifetime. Lets move on. Maybe Rove can give Akins a $1,000,000 campaign fund donation to show the sincerity of his apology!

Nonsense. The obsequiousness of the GOP cognoscenti turns these media "probing actions" into self-fulfilling prophecies.

I agree. Rove will attack any conservative at the drop of a hat but cautions everybody against being mean to ‘Rats. He needs to go because his favorite activity appears to be insulting and slandering conservatives.

Wouldn’t it be great if people on our side could lighten up? INDEED! I think of Reagan’s wonderful sense of humor. He really defused so many situations with his warm laugh.

IF the GOP lightened up, the MSM barbs would not matter. They only matter if you take them seriously and REact.

The GOP could — ignore them (always a good response); LAUGH; make fun of the MSM in return. Is it not true that the libbies’ reaction to Clint Eastwood only shows that the humor hit home?

In case you forgot Rove just conducted the circular firing squad on Todd Akin. Rove demanded he go because of one statement, even though Akin has a lifetime 97% ACU conservative rating. Rove doesn’t like him because he is not a lackey. Akin voted against the Bush Medicare Expansion and also the debt ceiling increases. That is why Rove wants Akin murdered. Time for Rove to go. His pomposity and big government Ruling Class arrogance only serve liberal ends. And, he promotes murder. Leave Karl. Be gone.

If Rove fought libs as hard as he fights conservatives we would have avoided. Zero.

Karl Rove was useful during the Bush era. It’s the Tea Party era now and we need Tea Party strategists and spokespersons. Young people like Paul Ryan, Ted Cruz, and Mia Love are the future of the GOP. The old war horses need to retreat to the background. If they have good ideas, fine. They should be listened to for the sake of experience. But they shouldn’t be the faces of the party.

A few years ago, the Tea Party was the farm team and the GOPe were the big league players. Many of the Tea Party players have been promoted to the big leagues and giving the GOPe a challenge for starting positions. Some have already won starting positions. But it’s going to take another election cycle or two until the GOP big leagues has a majority of Tea Party players. By that time, the farm team will be replete with aspiring Tea Partiers and the GOP leadership should stay Tea Party for a generation or more. But we have to be vigilant and hold them to Tea Party values and not let them be lured by Inside the Beltway perks.

Compare that to the state of the Democrats. They’re like an aging team that broke the bank to win that last World Series. Now they have no money and no prospects. Where are their equivalents of Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio and Susanna Martinex and Palin and Jindal, etc. Look at the slate of speakers at the convention. Geez. Like Rush said, they’re all out of Jurassic Park. And the theme is “Forward”? What are they thinking?

Rove doesn’t like Palin...that, alone, is reason to get rid of him.
