I said the pre-1861 South and your reference to ‘’tolerance’’ eludes me. How was slavery ‘’tolerance’’?

The post to which you replied, originally, offered examples of Southern toleration for eccentricity & religious differences. It also cited Booker T. Washington as to the good relations between the primary races.

It did not refer to the labor system, corporation law or any of a host of other aspects of the culture or legal system. Southern tolerance would certainly have affected how the law was applied, of course; but that was not the subject of my comment. You are trying to make a statement; but the statement you are trying to make has no relevance to my point.
