I see Apple is suing to keep the Samsung Galaxy Note tablet off the US market, they seem skeered. Galaxy Notes look awesome, btw

"Since then Amazon's tablet has stolen 22 percent of the tablet market in the U.S., the company said last week."

I wouldn't say stolen. They found a nitch in the market for people that don't need big screens and cameras. They are also betting on revenue generated by users buying apps and media.

I note this passage from the source article:
Since then Amazon's tablet has stolen 22 percent of the tablet market in the U.S., the company said last week.
Stolen? STOLEN???

They have a superior, less expensive product.

The EARNED 22 percent of the market.

Defending patents that they spent time and money to develop is running scared? Please. Apple holds patents. Apple offered to license the disputed patents to Samsung. They declined, made a knock-off and that is how we got where we are today.

The 22% is based upon what exactly? Amazon has never released the number of kindles of any model sold.

Apple isn’t ‘skeered’ they own enough customer loyalty AND already dominate the market. They sued over patent infringement....and many companies do this to protect their design features.

Go buy whatever you want...frankly Apple won’t care

I didn’t click through to see Amazon’s internals. If you are sufficiently interested, the link is in the source article.

I own a Kindle Fire, and I love it, but there's no way I would consider it remotely equal, or superior to, something like an iPad. However, it is a lot less expensive.

Let me guess. You bought it because it doesn’t do what you want at a price you can’t afford?

Amazon and Jeff Bezos can pound sand: since they decided to contribute to the cause of gay "marriage", I have stopped spending a dime on them.

I did like my Kindle, but it's in the trash - I'll support the competition from here on.

Actually, it was a gift.

I use it pretty much solely as a book reader — for anything else, my iPhone is better (as in faster, more responsive, better battery life). For what I use it for, the KF is great, but as a general-purpose tablet? No, it’s not good enough.

When Amazon reports financials, they do not release the number of Kindles sold. IIRC, they report Kindle revenue as a whole, which includes e-ink units as well as the Fire.

Btw, I own an e-ink kindle. Some things are good for uni-tasking. Plus, I can switch between the kindle and the kindle app on my iPad and the last page read is synced between units.

Hate to break it to you, but if you throw out all the products from tech companies that support gay marriage... well, you better bring back your telegraph.

If we have to go back to the telegraph, fine. When are the rest of you going to decide to fight this perverse garbage?

If conservatives don't fight back then we're just Leftist/pervert/abortionist/gun grabber enablers.

The most obvious competitor would be the Barnes and Noble Nook. BN has been historically liberal as well.

I think Sony may still have an eReader; I cannot say whether it is a good value.

I admire your self discipline, but I’ll save my ire for companies that are overtly political, like GE. If I boycotted every company that’s spoken out for something liberal, I’d be a hunter-gatherer.

They are scared. They see the same thing happening in 2012 that happened to them in 1985: sensible consumers bought less expensive hardware that was more capable, while they tried to stave off the collapse of their market share by suing for "patent infringements" over ideas that were a) trivial, b) obvious or c) not even designed by them in the first place.

Samsung has eclipsed iEvil as the largest smartphone manufacturer world-wide. Don't let the fanbois at FR kid you: iEvil is skeered; and worse, every Android sold is an iPhone they don't sell, regardless of who actually makes it.

The new Galaxy Note tablet is apparently thinner and all that. Seems really cool. Just don’t confuse it with the Galaxy Note phone, which is a little smaller and makes phone calls.

Hunter-gatherers with conservative principles sleep well at night...

Seriously, the lefty perverts are well-organized and fanatic. If we don't fight every way we can, our children will be stuck with the results. Look what the homo left did or tried to do with Chik-Fil-A. We have to be even more resolute and there have to be sacrifices.

I was an ideal Amazon customer: I spent all sorts of money on them until the gay marriage thing and then I cancelled my Prime account and wrote letters and e-mails to Amazon explaining why they wouldn't see another dollar from me. If we can get enough people to do this, companies will stop supporting the nihilists.

My big sacrifice is buying from Barnes and Noble now and reading the books I already have.

If I have to hunt and gather, so be it.
