A copy of a document sent to me by a source and dated February 28,2000 ( a link is provided at the bottom) and further corroborated by other documentation has revealed that MBNA bank beginning in 2000 and throughout the entire tenure of Louis Freeh as the bank's vice chairman and general counsel, was a major corporate sponsor of Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile and continued to be throughout Freeh's tenure at the bank from 2001 to 2006 when MBNA bank was bought by Bank of America for $35 billion. Freeh at the time cashed in $20 million in stock options.
As the document shows, in April of 2000, less than two years after the 1998 Sandusky investigation, MBNA bank sponsored a testimonial dinner at Penn State to honor Jerry Sandusky. This relationship and sponsorship of Sandusky and Second Mile by MBNA bank continued while Freeh became the bank's vice chairman and general counsel.
In addition, evidence shows that Ric Struthers, vice president and head of the credit card division at MBNA bank and a close friend and colleague of Freeh sat on Jerry Sandusky's Second Mile board of directors at least until 2006.
Given MBNA bank's important financial relationship to Penn State and their relationship to Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile as one of Sandusky's biggest biggest corporate sponsors and Freeh's position as vice chairman and general counsel,and given Freeh's friendship with Ric Struthers, a vice president who sat on Sandusky's Second Mile Board of Directors from 2000 to at least 2006, the conflicts of interest between Freeh and MBNA bank and it's executives and Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile are so great, so irreconcilable, so substantive and raises so many legitimate questions that on ethical grounds alone, it completely invalidates the Freeh Report ...

In your fantasy world where the law does not apply, they didn’t go far enough. In the real world where the law does matter, Penn State shouldn’t have gotten any sanctions at all, Period.

So you are saying that because these people contributed to Sandusky's foundation their investigation was invalid? That's like saying we should know what brand of coffee Jim Robinson drinks just because we've donated to FR.
I think what the close connection means its that Freeh was sent in to clean up the Sandusky mess without implicating anyone else. Just what a good FBI man does.
No, I’m saying regardless of whether Paterno covered up anything (I think he’s getting a raw deal, but that’s irrelevant to this argument). The NCAA was out of bounds to put sanctions on the program. The NCAA is there to enforce competitive rules, not to butt their noses into criminal matters of employees of universities. That’s what the court system is for.
It’s the same reason the previous NCAA administration chose not to pursue sanctions against Baylor for their basketball program covering up the murder by one of their players.
They went in there and found other NCAA **Rules** violations and hit them for that. There were no NCAA rules violations on Penn State, and there is tons of precedent for NCAA not getting involved in the legal messes of coaches who may haave committed a crime. So for the first time in NCAA history, they decided to stretch their rulebook to cover it.
Meanwhile, NCAA looks the other way at North Carolina’s student-athlete academic scandal that probabaly should have vacated numerous UNC Basketball titles. They also looked the other way on Cam Newton and Auburn. It woulda been a shame to wreck the BCS rankings mid-season :-/. Yes, sure, Penn State has a culture problem. Yea okay.
You have made it clear that you hate all that freedom of association stuff, and that you personally want the courts to step in and dictate every Americans relationships and activities - Even amateur sports played voluntarily but...
The rest of us value the freedom you so passionately despise, and we are fine if a voluntary association wants to kick people they no longer wish to associate with out, simply because they desire to do so.

I think anyone in the media now who says “Paterno family will not win lawsuit”....probably should contact their legal counsel and prepare for libel/slander suits
The Freeh Report is totally invalidated. Freeh’s corporation, while running it, was contributing to Sandusky’s charity

Law had nothing to do with it. The NCAA is a private organization and polices its members by its rules. A more thorough criminal investigation needs to be launched. It’s likely Sandusky was a pimp also
