In a sign that nature still has an awful lot to teach us, a Stanford biologist and computer scientist have discovered that harvester ants hunt for food the same way Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) operates to determine and manage network congestion.
The way ants use the networking process is by measuring the rate of return by hunters seeking food, and using that data to vary the number of individuals sent out to help with the effort.

But, somehow they can't get around this little piece of malware:

I had heard that the way the internet routes data packets is far from optimal.

In 200 years it will be on display at the Smithsonian Send out a packet, with no clue of where it is going, and hope to get an ack, eventually. It's suprising how effective that can be.

The complexity of DNA code (never mind enzyme command code) makes what was divinely given to ants pale by comparison.

I recall seeing a similar picture of Ant Lions, and I was both fascinated and wound up having nightmares. It wasn't until I went to Boy Scout camp that I actually saw ant lions "in the wild."
The picture is NOT drawn to scale, unless those ants are tiny! The ant lion larvae are only about 4 or 5 mm in length.
