It is. A lot of mid size quakes lately. That seismo-paper looks like one big smudge today. Something looks like it’s boiling.

It will be interesting to see if this clears up the seismograph....?

When you get a chance could u post that earth image you have that clearly shows the actual shape?
AS for the ARRAY charts.....oh come on that stuff is way over my head....lol

The potato? At the
link, you can use the slider at the bottom of the image to rotate view.
The link to the seismic array crashes my max'd Dell 830 IE at about 1100 stations loaded out of the 5596. So, I went to the HQ page and have to tell ya, I'm impressed! Boggles my mind with possibilities for displaying what's going on with the earth, geologically. NSF funding with deep pockets - I wonder why?
What have you learnt so far? Shoot me a PM if you need to. ;)
Maybe it's time to find time. Who can resist the BIG picture?!
Thanks!

bfl - I need to bookmark that on another machine.
To: Errant
Thanks that exactly the link I wanted!
As for the Array....neophyte would not adequately describe the limited knowledge I have of using the system.
However....it is highly impressive. I read all the instructional that's available save for a few pdf’s I came across but I have yet to find tutoring on the exact charts that IRIS are using...lol

Note the plate breakup region above and its relation to the area of least gravity in the potato image.

Yeah....seems to me gravity is certainly the key or at least a key to tectonic movement!
Thanks for the ping!

I just had a thought that it would be interesting to see the gravity image in reverse, so that the areas of least gravity appear as high points and high gravity areas appear as darker, lower areas. :)

Yeah that would be perfect...would be much easier to compare to recent and potentially future quakes...@!
