[Belated] Helen Thomas 92nd Birthday
Scoop Independent News ^ | 14 Aug 12 | Connie Lawn

A group of about 25 journalists and friends got together in the National Press Club to celebrate the life and birthday of ground breaking journalist Helen Thomas. We met in the McLendon Room, which was appropriate. When I came into the White House press corps, in l968, Helen and Sarah McClendon were the senior correspondents.

Helen's mind and voice are as sharp as ever, but her body is more delicate (that happens to many of us). Our one rule of the get together was -- no politics! We have enough of that the rest of the time. In addition, none of us are without controversy or opinions. We would not be worthy of our profession if we did not provoke controversy at times! It is also nice to show kindness to all of us as we advance in age.

The revolting thing about Helen Thomas is that she is uglier on the inside than outside. I find it sad that someone can be that hateful and still be welcomed by so many people who ought to know better.

"Our one rule of the get together was -- no politics!"

That's precious, because her fellow "journalists" consider Helen a radical conservative.

92? I think that someone left off the first digit, might be a 1 but I am betting it is a 2.

About 10 years ago I emailed HT a personal message to retire now and enjoy the rest of your life. She sent me back a blessing out that was hilarious. Wish I still had her email address; I would congratulate her for doing no more damage to the country since she quit work.

#14: At least Oligocene and more likely Miocene (3-25 million and counting).

Still - you have a great line.

You're being cruel. Helen is clearly Holocene. Roughly 12,000 years ago.

What is it with Freepers being so mean, putting Helen Thomas in the wrong epoch?

She at LEAST uses Bronze Age tools. And has a brain that is very modern. For the era she was born in.
