The federal air marshal who took George Zimmerman in after he shot Trayvon Martin has written a book about his controversial friend, and appeared on a national TV show Tuesday to say Zimmerman was a peaceful, loving and innocent man.
Mark Osterman, 44, is the friend who Zimmermans wife Shellie first called for help on Feb. 26, when her husband, a former neighborhood watch volunteer, shot an unarmed teenager. Osterman, a former Seminole County sheriffs deputy, went to the scene, accompanied Zimmerman to his police interrogations and took the couple in for more than a month while they were vilified in the national media.
Osterman and his wife, Sondra, appeared Tuesday on the Dr. Phil TV show to plug their new book, Defending our Friend: The Most Hated Man in America. The shows host, psychologist Phillip McGraw, hammered Osterman with questions, repeatedly suggesting Zimmerman was a Rambo who was to blame because he violated the basic premise of neighborhood watch programs by carrying a gun and getting out of his vehicle to track a suspect.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.
Zimmerman can’t be the most hated man in America if Dr. Phil is still around.
Regardless of what happened...GZ was a neighborhood watch or nosey neighborhood busybody.
One who has a record for punching a cop.
And a wannabe cop who hid behind his daddy the ex-judge.
Neighborhood watch vigilantes...They’re as detestable as HOA presidents and as useless. he should go to jail just on that alone.
I’ll handle my OWN security at my OWN house.
To hades with my despicable neighbors...most of whom are dumb yinzers in a union who vote Democrat anyway. let them hget robbed, I could care less.
Love how the objective media "covers" a story.
Love how the objective media "covers" a story.
And just how would Dr. Phil know what a neighborhood watchman does, and whether they carry guns?
Your proof that Trayvon Martin was such, or any belts he held, if any?
Put up or shut up, and not just some other slanted story, please.
Capt. Zimmerman was protecting and serving his community when he was attacked.
I wish you would quit miscalling him captain, a lot of us Zimmerman supporters do, it looks silly, sounds silly, and hurts the credibility of us all.
Gross generalizations and faulty assumptions....
....framing his remarks and questions with "Do you still bear your wife?" phraseology....
--AND--
Obvious hostility towards the Ostermans for their commitment to the Zimmermans, and telling their story in a book.
(the book confronts and derails the media narrative)
I see that you don’t like George Zimmerman. I can’t fault you for that.
But, none of what you posted makes him guilty of murder.
And he completely dismissed the injuries to Zimmerman as his fault for getting out of the truck and wanted us all to believe that the person delivering those injuries was the one screaming.
He finally brought on Trayvon's stepmother and her tears sealed the deal with the audience -- Mark and his wife and Zimmerman were lying to protect GZ who was on a hunting safari that night.
Mark and his wife fought back the best they could but they had the deer in the headlights look thinking that all they had to do was say it and they would be believed. But Dr Phil is the master of the last word and I'm sure they went home wondering just what happened to them.
Dr. Phil is a disciple of Blowprah, who was the #1 influencer for Baraq in 08. Without Blowprah, Phil just another private practice psychologist making 60 grand a year.
As my old boss used to say....follow the money.
Maybe you should lay off of the stiff drink for awhile.
Especially since he was not on neighborhood watch that night, and because of that fact the HOA, insurance carriers, and residents cannot be easily targeted for civil suits by the Crumpmeisters.
While the Crumpmeisters are doing their best to tie his actions to Neighborhood Watch, GZ's lawyers are distancing him from it and for good reason.
Unarmed does not matter if the teenager is in the middle of beating a man to death. This picture alone is proof of self-defense (not "stand your ground" because that law is irrelevant when the victim is pinned to the ground and unable to retreat). I wish Trayvon Martin's parents had raised him better, but once they turned him into a thug, George Zimmerman had no safe alternatives. Given what Martin had become, I'm glad he is no longer a danger to decent people.
