Notre Dame to announce ACC move today

Except football and hockey....guess they figure they could not win in the ACC with those programs....
There are no Div 1 hockey teams in the ACC.
They will not forfeit their NBC football contract, it’s too lucrative to share with the rest of the league.
One sport this WILL affect is lacrosse. By joining with the ACC and with Syracuse also moving that makes 6 lacrosse playing schools in the ACC, finally meeting the criteria for an automatic qualifier (not that the league needed it anyway but it finally becomes official).
In last year’s polls that makes 5 Top Ten lacrosse teams in the ACC and Syracuse will rejoin the Top Ten soon enough. That makes the ACC lacrosse conference the strongest conference in America in ANY Division I team sport.
And puts another nail in the coffin of the Big East, where basketball and lacrosse will both take a another hit.
Because when I think ‘Atlantic Coast,’ I think ‘Indiana.’ All FBS schools should just stop playing them until they join a conference.
If you look at a map Tallahassee isn’t much further east than South Bend
They helped the big east explode...now the acc
Syracuse, Boston College, Florida State, Miami, I can’t take it anymore! The ACC is NC and Duke, and NC State and Wake Forest, to hell with these yankee schools only wanting to get in the ACC to make money off ACC basketball!
I look it at a little differently - the ACC kept losing to Big East schools in the NCAA tourney so they needed to raid the conference to try to beat it!!!!!!!!!!!
NC and Dook will still dominate the ACC in basketball, but believe it or not NC State will be the team to beat this coming year.
You do realize that for YEARS, Florida State was more than making up for any revenue increase the ACC brought to them in basketball by dumping gobs of money into the pot for football, right? It hasn’t exactly been a one-sided relationship, and last time i checked, Tallahassee was closer to the Atlantic Coast than Chapel Hill.
In 1994, the Eagles were beaten by Georgetown 8158 in the first round of the Big East tournament. But, following its invitation to the NCAA, the men's basketball team went on one of its most historic runs. Boston College defeated Washington State in the opening round of the tourney. In the second round, BC had its memorable upset of defending national champion North Carolina, 7572, pushing them to the Sweet Sixteen.
BC beats #1 seed NC in the 1994 tourney.
Florida State should take their ass back to the SEC, where they came from. But if they did that they would have to play Alabama and LSU and the rest of the SEC teams, and consistently get beat in football. The only reason they joined the ACC was to play much weaker football teams.
You clearly know nothing about which you speak. Florida State was never in the SEC. We were an independent in football (Metro in Basketball) when we joined the ACC. We had always been independent in football prior to that, at least as far back as the mid ‘80s when I started following the team. We were NEVER in the SEC, because our “big brother” the University of Florida doesn’t want us there.
I stand corrected. You are right, Florida State was never in the SEC, and of course there was no way they would join the most logical conference for them to join. That would have meant playing runner-ups to the likes of Alabama and LSU. A much safer choice was the historically weak ACC, which has always been known as a basketball conference. It’s nice to see that after years of dominating this weak football conference called the ACC, that Clemson actually beats them once in a while. If that continues to happen look for Florida State to join the MEAC so they can play Florida A&M instead of Clemson.
I stand corrected. You’re not just misinformed. You’re an asshole.
