U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice said the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi was not premeditated, directly contradicting top Libyan officials who say the attack was planned in advance.
“Our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous – not a premeditated – response to what had transpired in Cairo,” Rice told me this morning on “This Week.”
“In Cairo, as you know, a few hours earlier, there was a violent protest that was undertaken in reaction to this very offensive video that was disseminated,” Rice said, referring to protests in Egypt Tuesday over a film that depicts the Prophet Muhammad as a fraud. Protesters in Cairo breached the walls of the U.S. American Embassy, tearing apart an American flag.
“We believe that folks in Benghazi, a small number of people came to the embassy to – or to the consulate, rather, to replicate the sort of challenge that was posed in Cairo,” Rice said. “And then as that unfolded, it seems to have been hijacked, let us say, by some individual clusters of extremists who came with heavier weapons… And it then evolved from there.”

The “extremists” wanted to see if we would open fire, and, if so, create a few more “martyrs” to parade before to press & world diplomatic corps. Once they had determined our rules of engagement, they were free to execute their rules of engagement. ( “Kill all the Infidels! Obama will NOT retaliate.”)

Many comments on this and other similar threads declare Ambassador Rice to be an idiot. This would be true if she actually believed what she said, but I doubt that this is true.
She is Lying for Obama, and was the administration’s designated liar for the Sunday talk shows. It tells us that the administration has decided that this storyline is Obama’s best chance at mitigating the damage.
Expect stories and ads that attempt to connect the nutcase video with Romney and the Republicans. Nothing to do with Obama you see, Romney and Republican’s fault.

Susan Rice is lying through her teeth, following Regime talking points to protect the Bitch of State and the Traitor in Chief.
We have, for example, the testimony of Ethan Chorin, who was in Benghazi with Dr. Thomas Burke of Mass General, Boston. They were there to assist Libyan doctors in setting up an Emergency Room operation at the Benghazi Medical Center. They and the Libyan doctors were slated to meet with Ambassador Stevens Wednesday morning.
Tuesday evening, Chorin was on the phone with the Ambassador's security detail arranging the meeting, when the call ended abruptly with a shout of "We've got a problem here". Then Chorin and Burke were left to hole up in their hotel listening to sounds of the distant violence. And the Libyan doctors ended up treating the Ambassador unsucessfully at the BMC for severe asphyxia.
IOW, no demonstration, no build-up. Just a sudden surprise attack by Al Qaeda. Which we now know would not have been a surprise, but for the incompetence of the Obama State Department.
