U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice said the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi was not premeditated, directly contradicting top Libyan officials who say the attack was planned in advance.
“Our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous – not a premeditated – response to what had transpired in Cairo,” Rice told me this morning on “This Week.”
“In Cairo, as you know, a few hours earlier, there was a violent protest that was undertaken in reaction to this very offensive video that was disseminated,” Rice said, referring to protests in Egypt Tuesday over a film that depicts the Prophet Muhammad as a fraud. Protesters in Cairo breached the walls of the U.S. American Embassy, tearing apart an American flag.
“We believe that folks in Benghazi, a small number of people came to the embassy to – or to the consulate, rather, to replicate the sort of challenge that was posed in Cairo,” Rice said. “And then as that unfolded, it seems to have been hijacked, let us say, by some individual clusters of extremists who came with heavier weapons… And it then evolved from there.”

Right. They just happened to show up with all those weapons and gear. At the same time. In those numbers. Agreeing on who was in charge. Where the ambassador was located. No, of course there was no coordination, that kind of thing happens all the time - in the movies, on The A Team, etc.
It was as spontaneous as December 7, 1941 or September 11, 2001 ... and, and, imagine that, it just happened to take place on the same September 11. What a coincidence! In fact, that proves it.

Many comments on this and other similar threads declare Ambassador Rice to be an idiot. This would be true if she actually believed what she said, but I doubt that this is true.
She is Lying for Obama, and was the administration’s designated liar for the Sunday talk shows. It tells us that the administration has decided that this storyline is Obama’s best chance at mitigating the damage.
Expect stories and ads that attempt to connect the nutcase video with Romney and the Republicans. Nothing to do with Obama you see, Romney and Republican’s fault.

Rice is just getting in step with the “conventional wisdom” that is being formulated by the government / media axis. CNN has clearly placed the blame on “Islamaphobic Evangelicals” surprisingly enough.

The bureaucrats call the grass around the Washington Memorial purple and no one in power refuses to call them out. Criticism is only relegated to pundits not people who can actually make public servants of the Executive Branch nervous.
