The history channel is now airing the Rise of Hitler. History tends to repeat itself....if we DO NOT learn from it.
Just started 20 minutes ago....seems like Germany was looking for it's "messiah" back then.

If we're talking about Hitler, I would put in a plug for the mini-series 'Hitler - The Rise of Evil' (2003), with the Scottish actor Robert Carlyle portraying Hitler from his early years up through the point where he seized total power after the death of Hindenburg. I thought Carlyle was refreshing (if one can call a portrayal of Hitler as 'refreshing') for he showed Hitler as the sociopath he was, with a look inside the personal life of the future fuehrer.
In an interesting bit of casting, Matthew Modine (aka 'Private Joker' in Full Metal Jacket) portrays 'Fritz Gerlich', a German journalist who refuses to knuckle under to the Nazis, all in all I gave it high marks.
