I think a lot of this is ridiculous.
Vote at your local level. Get involved in local level politics.

Conservatives are always rabbiting on about small government ... well, local politics at the city/county level is about as local as you can get.

Zoning laws have been onerous for decades (at least since the 1950’s) and few conservatives complained about zoning laws until zoning laws started to be changed in a way they didn’t like. But it was local level politics that set these laws and it’s local level politics that are changing them. Why all of a sudden isn’t local control good enough?

Of course, taking Federal money to build out your city was fine and dandy as long as you agreed with what was being built. But now all of a sudden it’s evil to take Federal money because it’s going towards things you may not like?

Not buying it.

There is enough hypocrisy in this Agenda 21 stuff to choke a horse.

In my area, a small group of self-defined Green Marxists (yes, they proudly describe themselves as such), have met for years to plan how to push through A21 goals. New members are subtly discouraged by not informing them of meetings or having meetings in private homes disguised as social evenings.

Several of them ran for County Board and won, but, luckily, they were outnumbered and only a couple got re-elected. These people have several goals, one of which is control of our poor county’s budget, which is still in the millions. Another is to push for those Federal loans and grants.

As more and more urban liberals move here, eventually, our local control will be in their hands, as the rest of us age or are forced out by high property taxes.

Get involved? How? Most of us are small business owners. Even getting on the local School Board is a death knell for a business. The whispering campaigns are vicious and go far beyond politics to nasty innuendo that border on libel and slander. Even those who may not believe the rumored lies don’t want to get involved. Our local conservatives are often hounded to the point where they choose to quit because the pressure is so great.

Maybe you live in a place where there are rational folks who are majority conservative. Most of us do not. Here, ALL the Federal agency positions are filled with liberals or worse. When approached, they are contemptuous and outright disdainful of any approach that is not Marxist.

My area is targeted as a Green Belt with decreasing human habitation over time. People are pressured to will their land to organizations like Nature Conservancy, which turns around and sells to the Federal Government. The tax base dies and the Federal Government gets more and more say in what happens here. “Local control” has become a joke.

To those hassling the original poster: THANK YOU for posting this information. I found I didn’t have time to watch Beck and so, I cancelled my subscription. I will read the book.

To those making not-so-subtle Mormon remarks: who cares? zer0 and the Marxists are killing this nation. Romney is not zer0. Case closed. I just read a post on another forum where some idiot threatened to leave the country if Romney is elected. This is a coordinated trolling attack, because when asked where they would go, they did not reply. I would be happy to help them leave.
