Berkeley on Tuesday became what is thought to be the nation's first city to officially proclaim a day recognizing bisexuals, a sexual minority that often complains of being derided as sexually confused fence-sitters.
The City Council unanimously and without discussion declared Sept. 23 as Bisexual Pride and Bi Visibility Day. Since 1999, bisexual activists have claimed the date to celebrate their community, and bisexual pride events routinely are held in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and other cities...
Berkeley, however, is believed to be the first U.S. city where a government body has taken the extra step of to formally acknowledge the day...
Councilman Kriss Worthington introduced the resolution, telling his colleagues ahead of Tuesday night's meeting that it was important for the city to support an occasion "conceived as a response to the prejudice and marginalization of the bisexual persons by some in both the straight and greater LGBT communities."
The Williams Institute, a think tank at the University of California, Los Angeles, devoted to the study of sexual orientation and the law, estimates that more than 4 million Americans identify as bisexual...
Some bisexuals nevertheless say they feel overlooked or misunderstood, frequently finding themselves portrayed in popular culture as the punch lines of jokes or pathological. And while bisexuals are part of the acronym that makes up the LGBT rainbow, some activists protest that gays are some of their harshest critics.

I am getting an error message when I click on either link you provided. Based on the headline, I want to vomit.
Do you have an additional one?
Fence-sitters could become the next little-understood and derided subcategory of the sexually oppressed worthy of their own day.
What is a sexually confused fence?
(The link I posted with the excerpt is still working for me. Dunno what the problem is, but this is the second time that’s happened with a hosted.ap link.)
After the bisexuals, there are the trisexuals.
as in ‘Try anything sexual!”
Bi-curious pride day?
“Say it loud: ‘Indecisive and proud!’”
P1: So, I hear you'll try anything sexual.
P2: That's right! Why, do you got something new?
P1: Sure do.
*P1 hands P2 a pill*
P2: What's this?
P2: But that's not...
Ok, so I'm a horrible person for thinking that's amusing...
How long until there is an “Asexual Pride Day”.
So....This is what’s going to happen? We’re really going to end up with a special day of honor for every single different way people use their sex organs?
I guess Berkley has a lot of biphobes living there.
Too much tension between voluntary celibates and involuntary celibates?
So far, they don’t seem to be all that keen on abstinence, but ya never know...
If someone claims to be an active bisexual, doesn’t that logically mean the person is not monogamous? And I thought that the whole gay marriage push was not in any way going to lead to group marriage or anything like that? You know, aren’t they stressing the monogamy of same sex marriage?
Check out the two little kids along the fence seeing this sick bastard ride by in some LGBT parade.
Not if they're married to a half man, half woman transgendered.
So when’s the “Goat and Sheep Pride Day”?
I can’t keep up with the modern world. Can I be reborn in a different century?
One reason they are perceived as confused is the term “bisexual” itself. Maybe if we called them “pansexual,” which might also be more accurate, people would get the point.
