In a taped interviewed played in court Tuesday, a Southern California chef on trial for allegedly killing his wife told police he slow cooked her body then dumped it out as kitchen waste.

Dawn Viens disappeared in 2009 and police identified her husband David – the chef at the former Thyme Café in Torrance – as a prime suspect.

In 2011, investigators dug up the Thyme Café, which Dawn co-owned, searching for her body. But in a taped interview played Tuesday in court, David Viens seemed to tell police why her remains may never be found.

"I took some, some things like weights that we use and I put them on the top of her body, and I just slowly cooked it and I ended up cooking her for four days," Viens said on tape...

He'll soon be doing Thyme in prison…

Where he'll pen a culinary tome that Robert Morley can place along side his cherished "'Andes Plane Crash Cookbook".

Ugh is right. Dreadful flick. The worst of Euro film and art house film combined.

Was a rather poor film. More shock (at the time) than anything.

Is that a screw top? I’ve heard that Down Under/NZ wines travel better with screw caps or plastic “corks”, especially now that the “thing” is to reduce the sulfur dioxide content.

Looks like a screw top to me. I have had some decent NZ wines that had screw tops.

Cool, just in time for lunch.

Fortunately today’s lunch is vegan-ish (Ramen noodles with assorted veggies added)

I’m not vegan, just dirt poor.

In the same boat, bro. (Literally. I live on an old boat)

Liver's cheap...no fava beans, no chianti, just onions and potatoes. Cooking as I post.

Fortunately, I actually LIKE Ramen noodles; I can eat them for days. Favorite way, is 2 packages of cooked noodles drained, add only 1 package of chicken seasoning, add red peppers and a dash of parmesan cheese, parsley flakes if I've got them, and toss.

I save the surplus flavoring packets to spice up other things. If I making a pot of something like stew or spaghetti, instead of salting the food, I'll throw in the surplus packages of seasoning and give it a little flavor along with the sodium. Waste not, want not.

Every time my Mom calls, she wants to know if I'm eating Ramen noodles for supper. She has an absolute vendetta against Ramen noodles, and that's no joke... She wants me to report what's in my cupboard, and when I come to the word Ramen, she screeches in frustration.

A few weeks ago at the store they had a couple thin steaks on sale, marked down because they were getting old, and my mom just happened to call me as I was sitting there enjoying steak. She said "What are you eating?" I said "Steak..." and she was so happy. "...mixed with Ramen noodles..."

She said, "I disown you." LOL

The way my business goes, sometimes I'm more flush, sometimes I'm not... but even if I was rich, I'd still love Ramen noodles. If it's on sale, it's what's for dinner...even if Publishers Clearing House is standing right behind me with a giant check.

Yeah, well, it wasn't so much this story alone which caught my eye but combine it with the headline just above it on Drudge, Study: Air Pollution From Grilled Burgers Worse Than Trucks, and I am just kinda wondering.
