Review: 'NCIS' season ten premiere
By Rick Ellis

Season nine found Gibbs... --snip-- He began a relationship with CIA analyst Samantha Ryan (Jamie Lee Curtis) and there were moments in the middle of the season where it seemed as if Gibbs was finally at peace. It was a slightly more optimistic take on his life and for fans, one that was welcomed. But the season ended with an arc that ripped that momentary contentment into small pieces and moved the series into a new direction for season ten. It was an arc with some jarring moments and it set up a season premiere that moves Gibbs into a much darker place.

The arc began with sabotage on several Navy ships. A mysterious series of explosions were initially thought to be terrorism but the agents slowly began to realize the motivations were a bit more complex. One of the things I like about "NCIS" is that it never takes the easy way out with villains. Unlike some similar genre shows, the bad guys are more likely to be American malcontents than foreign operatives. There is respect for the Navy, but the show isn't afraid to show the worst parts of the military.

In this case the attacks were being planned by a mysterious industrialist, Harper Dearing (Robert Shiff). --snip-- Dearing seemed to have the upper hand and last season ended with the bombing of NCIS headquarters. To say nothing of Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard's (David McCallum) apparent fatal heart attack on a beach in Florida. Agents DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and David (Cote de Pablo) are stuck in an elevator following the blast and it's not clear about the fate of Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) and Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray).

Since I didn't make it past Abby's 'Michelle Moment' I'll take y'all's word for it, but it is a moot point... as I will not watch "NCIS" any more.

Tell Tony DiNozzo that Bender... has left the building for good--

Re: Some liberals I know do like the fact they are banning guns for everyone except the militia.

That's fiction for ya, 'cause if an electromagnetic pulse event really happened like the one in "Revolution" there would be far more gun owners... than an liberals able to enforce any gun ban.

And if the liberals tried such an enforcement... it would be a bloodbath.

Yeah, the transfer van capture was goofy. I was expecting to see Wo Fat on the plane with McG mom at the very end in some bizarre new twist...

if i stopped watching everything because ui was offended by a single line or 2 i would have no media at all. yes the mo comment was annoying but we already know she is a big lib. as far as the president i honestly heard “the president” and thought “the president” not obama.
as long as it isn’t in my face and i have the freedom to turn it off and enjoy the show, i ignore some of this stuff.

I quit watching NCIS last season when Jamie Lee Curtis showed up as Gibbs’ love interest. Add in the gay agent episode, and it was enough. Why would anyone want to watch a crime show with a romance between a good lookin’ ex Marine and a person who looks like she could be his sister? Or brother? Ick.

All TV Series have a LIBERAL Slant...in some shows it is more subtle than others....in other shows it is the same as the Gays trying to shove their lifestyle into the mainstream of acceptance...People wo know the Bible will never accept this lifestyle as normal...

I think I’m done with NCIS; thank you very much… Other than being a poorly written “season opener,” (loaded up with way too many commercials for things I neither need nor want), it just didn’t grab me. Too bad the writers didn’t take the opportunity to clean up the cast…

DiNozzo is getting old. I never understood why the hell Gibbs never slapped him (hard—in front of his head for once) and tell him to grow up before he fired his silly ass. Did anybody ever really believe this immature wise-acre would ever be acceptable in any real world, close-work team environment—now I’m over it.

Ducky’s “instant autopsy” defies the imagination. Even more compelling would have been Michelle Obama in a guest role. Can’t you just see it? “This bone was broken by a medic; ergo, the man had cardiac arrest!” she exclaims demurely...

But it’s Abby, (the 40-year old Goth holdover) who iced it for me with the gratuitous remark that she’d “rather be stuck in an elevator with Michele Obama.” Gee, do you think that plug might have actually served to “get out the vote” for the “sitting” (as opposed to “working”) president? Good luck on the ride down Abby…

I love NCIS and don’t find any slant to liberal stuff...Each character seems to stay honest in there portral. I find it enjoyable as I always did. To put Gibbs in the shoes of Obama is over the top. There has been no connection to the 2. Don’t see it, its not there. Still number 1....

Just watched the premier of "Last Resort" and while the production values were very good, the plot had holes in it a boomer submarine could float through sideways and a NATO missile early warning site in the middle of the Indian Ocean? They do have it right, there is a crazy man in power in DC but he would never order a nuke be laid on an Islamic country.

Israel or a Red State like my native Texas? Yep... I do believe he would--

Don't think there will be a full season of "Last Resort." Me thinks it will be a race between it and "Mob Doctor" as to which gets cancelled first--

But I could be wrong as "New Girl" is still on the air and I cannot get drunk enough... to accept it!

One of my favorite shows is the politically even-handed sitcom Parks and Recreation, starring Amy Poehler, as an eternally optimistic assistant director at the Parks department of a small town in Indiana. There's a conservative character, named Ron Swanson, who is actually billed as a libertarian. He's hilarious. All the other characters are pretty funny, too. It comes on Thursday nights at 9:30, EDT/ET on NBC.

Tomorrow night, I look forward to the return of Fringe.

It should be noted that Dearing’s Southern heritage was mentioned yet again in this episode. I guess we Bitter Clingers south of the Mason Dixon line are perceived as a threat.

Did anyone else have a problem with the FBI luring a suspect into a bathroom then open firing at a closed door? What about the President ordering the murder of an American citizen? Or the leadership of top law enforcement agencies endorsing the murder of a suspect by their own agents? This is the dangerous message here. Revenge should not justify the abandonment of basic rights and freedoms and the more we as a people become complacent and accepting of this in the media, the more likely we are to turn a blind eye, or even endorse it, happening in real life. This is a very slippery slope Americans are being “nudged” towards.

I don’t know Bender, if that chick keeps doing scenes in her undies I might keep watching.

But more to the point, I had to keep explaining to my wife what X meant and why Y was relevant. She’s a smart lady but does not have enough military/defense knowledge to connect the dots, give that the show didn’t explain half of what was going on. I’m sure a lot of other people went “huh?”

I thought this was going to be a show where a war actually takes place and a handful of patriots scattered across the globe try to stitch the US back together...or something like that. A rouge boomer defying the U.S. and the entire world? Even if they were right and were victims, I’m calling BS on that concept.

Still...underwear girl was hot.

I tried watching New Girl a couple of times but it's just too terrible.

What did you think of Big Bang Theory? I will say that Sheldon plays Aspergers/OCD perfectly!

I love that. "They have the balls to make America the bad guy and the biggest threat radical Christian conservatives!" Like every other show on the planet, you mean? Like that Clancy novel about Muslim terrorists that was made into a movie about Eurotrash terrorists? Yeah, everyone but NCIS is portraying a right-wing fantasy that Muslims are bad guys when they're really our friends. By the way, NCIS shifted when Bellisario left. He's sort of left-wing when it comes to social issues, but he loves the military and his country.
