Over the years Ive learned that you can see some really amazing stuff on the Today Show at 7:30 in the morning. A week or so back as I puffed away on the tread mill, I spotted actress and director Penny Marshall being interviewed by Matt Lauer about her new book, My mother was nuts. Most remember her best for co-starring in the television comedy Laverne and Shirley and as the director of films such as Big and A League of Their Own.
Marshall is legendary for, shall we say, living the drug culture of the 1970s to the fullest, which apparently takes up a lot of time in her book. More importantly for us (thanks to the always helpful pro-life site Jivinjehoshaphat), I learned that I had missed an allusion Lauer made to the abortion that Marshall writes about in her book.
After reading the transcript from the Today Show, I went to an interview Marshall gave Reuters.
She is also vocal about her support for abortion rights after her own experience with unplanned pregnancies, writes Andrea Burzynski. Her first pregnancy with her boyfriend-turned-husband resulted in her daughter, Tracy. Her second, following her second marriage and divorce to Hollywood director Rob Reiner, resulted in an abortion.
Notice what follows next. Marshall says, Im pro-choice. But Im glad that there was no choice back then, because I have a wonderful daughter and three grandchildren.
What a remarkably revealing statement, wouldnt you say? Because she was not able to abort, Marshalls been blessed with a daughter and three grandchildren.
Put another way, the better angels of her nature were allowed to take wing because she did not have the option to abort. A great lesson.
Reagan loathed abortion.
“I’ve noticed that everyone that is for abortion has already been born.”
These people have no common sense whatsoever. They live in a bubble, not only from most Americans but from themselves as well.
She’s a moron, and Laverne and Shirley always sucked.
Logic is apparently not her strong suit.
Wonder what the aborted second child would have become and how many grandchildren Ms Marshal would have had?
Abortion has consequences down through the ages.
It pains me to remind you that Ronald Reagan signed the first bill in the US permitting abortion when he was governor — long before Roe v. Wade was decided in the Supreme Court. He later recanted, but the deed was already done. California has the dubious honor of aborting more babies than live births. Shameful!
Personally, I think Reagan was “played” by Nancy and his Hollywood friends on that one — subjected to the old rape, incest, and health of the mother argument. There was a lot of that flying around in those days. Of course “health of the mother” was quickly turned into an “Oh, I couldn’t possibly deal with stretch marks” argument that permitted abortion on demand for any reason.
Jeez, what a lousy thing to say to your kid. “I’d have preferred to have aborted you.”
I’ve always loathed the grotesquely ugly Penny Marshall
One thing I noted about The Won’s comment about not wanting his daughters to be “punished with a baby” ... that baby would be his grandchild.
It was shortly after he was elected. His staff told him to sign it, and he never took the time to consider it before signing it.
But she would deny that joy to others. What a hypocritical idiot.
Saw her interviewed recently. She appears to have done Ozzy Ozbourne-style damage to her brain. She would have had to in order to say a thing like that.
And it pains me that you do not know the history of that bill, and Reagan’s statement about it.
Yea, she is very homely. It seemed to work as Lavern, but character was cute....now well she has not aged well.
Yes, it is. It reveals that she has the brains of a cottonwood stump.
I’ve always thought the term “pro-choice” was especially
interesting. I’ve also thought about what “choice” the
Stop the idiocy, please!

Someday his kids will connect the dots.
And wait ‘til they find out that he voted against the “Infants Born Alive Act.”
That’s how I knew that he was a monster from the get go.
poor Meathead Jr.!
