Albert Peterson shot dead his wife and two sons hours after going to church because he dreaded the thought of Obama winning the election, a family friend has revealed.

A confidante of the family for the past 25 years has spoken to MailOnline about the strength and grace of the Peterson family, as well as the torment that plagued Albert which drove him to shoot dead his wife Kathleen and his two sons Christopher and Mathew at their suburban home in DC on Sunday.

A history of mental illness, the loss of a dear uncle, and a growing fear of Obama winning a second term in the White House took its toll on the mind of Mr Peterson, a wealthy defense contractor, the friend said.

They seem to be slightly downplaying the mental illness aspect of this.

I know I'm cynical, but I see a subtle message here: The folks who don't like Obama are a bizarre and violent bunch. Don't be a hater! Vote Democrat!

An honest, non-sensational headline would have been “Mentally Ill Man Kills Family.” But no, in order to sell papers, they had to lead with the “conservative hates Obama so much he kills his family” angle. These papers should be ashamed of themselves.

If Obama wins, people will start pushing for a revolution. Things can’t go on this way. Of course, I don’t think Obama is going to win. I think he’s going to lose in a landslide.

First, horrible story — we should pray for this family. Second — and I'm not being cute here — when the USA press carries this story, the angle will be that Republican hatemongers baited this man into killing his family and himself.

You’re right.

This guy was mentally ill. End of story. His demented motivations are irrelevant.

If there is any blame, it is for a society that ignores deeply disturbed people until they do something horrible.

Shouldn’t Obama and some Cabinet official go on a two week long tour condemning the media and polls for saying Obama is leading and a sure-thing? /sarcasm

Exactly my first thought - the media and their “in the tankedness” are to blame (if you follow the left’s “logic”).

http://www.wusa9.com/news/article/223070/158/Police-ID-Family-Found-Dead-In-Apparent-Murder-Suicide

...A neighbor of the family told 9News’s Peggy Fox that Albert Peterson was a conspiracy theorist...

...According to WNEW, neighbor Alvaro Lopes, says Albert Peterson suffered a heart attack several years ago, and Lopes believes the medication the man was taking changed his personality.

“He seemed dizzy... just different,” Lopes said. “Hearing about what happened today made me think that could have something to do with it.”

Lopes also claims the man’s father previously committed suicide.

The family recently completed building a deck and showed no outward signs of trouble.

Peggy Fox reports that at about 3 p.m. police removed the crime scene tape and packed up what was left of the crime scene. The family cars - Albert Peterson’s large Ford 350 pickup truck, and Kathie Peterson’s minivan- are still parked at the home...

Memo to all:

Dont trust my neighbors. They are jealous of my Mercedes and my beautiful wife. They will slander me and say untruths.

I dont think anyone knows why, but everybody now is a critic. God help us all.

I wouldn't be so sure. Mental illness can certainly lead people to violent, irrational obsessions, and obsessions with world events/world leaders/national leaders/etc are not an uncommon type of obsession for this set. So, it's entirely possible that this guy thought he was saving his family and himself from the prospect of a second Obama term.

It has to be mental illness, because we haven’t had the election yet. If he’d won, then I could understand the blame.

If fear of Obama winning was his true problem, he would not have done this before the election, and he would have been stockpiling food, guns, and ammo etc. to be prepared to survive another 4 years of Barry Boy.

His mental illness was the cause, and if not focused on Obama’s election he would have focused on something else.
