Unlike the present Communist, Henry Wallace was a man of character. He was not totally corrupt and Wallace had intelligence, too.

It is worse now than if Henry Wallace would have been our President.

I know what you're thinking.

It's like an episode of the X-Files. You're a mind reader.

He also renounced all ties to Communism in the 1950s and backed both Eisenhower and Nixon

I would not necessarily call him a “Communist”. He was more what I would call “Progressive”

In other words a “sympathizer” but not necessarily a “communist”. He believed that Capitalism and Communism could co-exist

However, he had the guts to admit (in writing no less!) that he had been fooled by Stalin and various communists

We already had a Communist President in 1944 — Just like the one we had in 1914.

They just weren't in as much of a hurry as the one we have now

Many people just don’t realize that the leftest tilting of USA government was given much impetus when Wilson brought in a European internationalist banker to create the Fed Reserve. Roosevelt was certainly a left leaning politician and USA government has followed a socialistic trend since. Even Eisenhower, intentionally or by politics, was on the treadmill when he denounced McCarthy’s efforts to rid USA government of communists. I was no fan of McCarthy or communism.

>> I would not necessarily call him a “Communist”. <<

Agreed. Definitely not in the same category as Whittaker Chambers, Alger Hiss, David Horowitz’s parents, or the Rosenbergs.

>> He was more what I would call “Progressive” <<

Well, yeah, that was the official name of the party under whose banner he ran for POTUS in 1948, with full and active support of the CPUSA.

I think, however, that the more accurate term for Wallace would be what the CPUSA considered him, namely, a “useful idiot.”

Who are you referring to?

FDR inflicted Wallace on his party in 1940 and was forced to take him off the ticket in 1944 by party bigshots who were concerned that FDR would not live out another term. If FDR had died before the convention in 1944, Wallace would have become President and presumably would have been the party's nominee for the next term...or if FDR had died later in 1944 but before the electoral college voted, Wallace might have been voted for by the Democrat electors (with HST for VP). Stalin would have gotten a lot more of Europe than he did.

Wallace definitely had the support of the Communist Party in 1948. Perhaps "fellow traveler" fits him best.

I’m referring to Paul Warburg as the kingmaker of the Fed Reserve. However,at the time the Western world was overrun with bankers from Germany, England, and the USA. It appears that the nexus of the bankers/banking interests was with the Rothschilds of London or Frankfurt. I believe the Rothschilds still hold much of world conditions in their hands as has been the situation for many centuries.
