In the months after a roadside bomb in Afghanistan blew off part of his left thigh, Sgt. Ron Strang wondered if he would ever be able to walk normally again.

“The body can say, ‘This is not me,’ but the signals that are there are actually telling me that I need to rebuild that tissue,” he added.
The matrix has to be in contact with healthy tissue, which is why scar tissue must be removed first. “If it’s put in the middle of a scar, it doesn’t remodel because it’s not exposed to the bloodstream and sources of cells,” Dr. Badylak said...

I’m sorry but I don’t believe in using transplanted organs or stem cells from one human to another. You were conceived with one body and I believe you should die when it no longer functions well enough to keep you alive. We are not lab rats.

You're reading too much science fiction. The immunological problems are immense. Immunosuppressant drugs compromize immune systems.
We have been doing cornea transplants for 50 years. I would prefer that to being blind and a drag on my family.
Your mileage may differ.
The cornea is interesting, the one tissue of the body that doesn’t get cancer.

Re[ “Do a google seach on subject” Why should I ? I didn’t post anything on extracellular matrix.Very likely that piece was inspired by a PR sent out by the sourcing research organization unless it was handed directly to the NYT.
Fact is I rarely post in FR but do offer commentary to posts with interpretation or suggestion of a direction to take which all too frequently gets buried in an avalanche of vapidity.
The point is ;
Frequent sourcing of the New York Times as the do all and end all enhances its position as The “premier source” in the US which is why its readers world wide come out all too frequently with the wrong idea of what is going on .
The quicker we learn either to knock off using NYT and other MSM sources and either where possible question their authorship and intent or better yet their validity or pick another source the better off we’re going to be.
