I was at Dick's this morning to buy some 223 ammo and was paying in cash. Before the checkout clerk would ring me out I had to tap Yes or No on the pad for the question of "Are you a US citizen"? None of the other gun stores I frequent ask this question......will be my last ever Dick's Sporting Goods purchase.
Yes. I think many of vast array of Export Control laws we have put into place are ill-considered, and impinge on Constitutional liberties (1st as well as 2nd ammendments). But I don't blame Dick's Sporting Good for trying to stay out of jail and in business.

In my book, the Constitution is not for non-citizens....we differ. (In the vernacular of the common liberal, I’ve interpreted this meaning as a ‘living document” transtional definition specifically relating to our current time where foreigners are a threat to us).....
This is what I'm thinking as well. Following the law. No problem there. Legal foreigners / tourists can purchase ammo.

I walk the walk. I have the license and I fight it every way that I can. Tell you what, sport: You go make yourself a test case against Bloomberg’s ban on guns in New York and then get back to me. How much did you do for our 2nd Amendment this year. Did you get involved, not just donate, to one of the many orgs fighting for our rights? I did. And will again next year. If I step out of line I go directly to a Federal Prison. You willing to do that? Thought not. You’re just another internet superhero. Ridding the universe of all the bad guys, one whining post at a time.
By the way, my shop is Fair Play Trading Post and Gunsmithing. You can easily validate that I am indeed a holder of a valid FFL.
If the govt was interested in the illegal invasion, they would close the borders. They don’t.
If they were interested in illegals, they would not give them free school care on the US taxpayers dime.

The FFL does not prove anything except that I have skin in the game and a clue about the laws. You have thus far ignored the proof of law that I have provided and thrown red-herrings out to distract.

FWIW, I make it a habit to avoid giving one dime of my business to anyplace that precludes the right to self defense. This of course means no NYC and no Jersey shore. I wish more gun owners would stick to their guns so to speak......then these places would feel it in their pocketbook.
I guess the real question is why are you buying ammo at Dick’s? Much better prices elsewhere.

Ot is closer than Cabelas......but now I will simply do all of my shopping at Cabelas. They truly understand the 2A.
Maybe they don’t want to sell to illegal aliens. OK by me although we kicked Dick’s to the curb several years ago when they stiffed us on a shotgun shell special. We are all Pro Bass all the time.

What it the point? The illegal can simply press Yes. So what? Unless they check your ID, and record it on the receipt, it means nothing.
I think I have the answer. It’s a marketing ploy. When word gets out that Dick’s checks ID’s to weed out illegal aliens, it may draw more business as “Dick’s is pro-American!”, when actually it is not, since I believe Dick’s is a pro-Rat business.

What part of "knowing or having reasonable cause to believe" don't you FReepers understand?
ACCORDING TO THE LAW, Dicks has ZERO jusitifability to apply this question indescriminately to AMMO sales, and whenever it does apply it, it must be able to show a REASON.
Don't you see what Dick's is implementing? It is the idea that if you don't provide some sort of positive evidence, you can be presumed - simply for existing - to be an alien or illegally or unlawfully in the United States.
THIS IS A BIG DEAL.
It is LITERALLY "papers please."
