Why? Isn’t that a question we ask suspected illegal aliens? You aren’t willing to cooperate with a task that conservative people are trying to establish to weed out illegals?

So you’re okay with an ammo seller not worrying about selling to illegals?

We have foreigners who shoot at our club at times. There is no law against foreigners buying ammo nor should there be.

You are clueless when it comes to the 2A.....like that question will stop any criminal from getting ammo!

Maybe you should articulate why this has offended you. I will admit that I’ve never seen such a question when purchasing ammo, yet not sure it is offensive.

I actually don’t have a problem with that.

My problem with Dick’s Sporting Goods is the signs in the front doors that say no weapons allowed on the premises.

I doubt it was intended to stop any illegal from buying ammo. It was more than likely a nod from their legal department to distance themselves fro an illegal shooting up said place. a liability thing.

Was this a customer survey, or a law enforcement barrier that you had to navigate?

I don’t see an attempt to stop foreigners. I don’t see a Second Amendment threat. I see a store trying to monitor activities of foreign citizens. I’m not opposed to this — it’s a property rights thing. The folks who own the store can ask anything they want — and you, of course, are free to shop elsewhere if you so choose.

That is an INFRINGEMENT.

Do non-citizens have American rights on our soil that they do not have on their own countries soil? I would think reciprocality laws and the UN would think not.

All it takes to incriminate yourself in Mexico is to have an empty (that means “used”) shell casing in your luggage or glove compartmant.

Red, I’m not sure this is a bad thing.

Verifying eligibility for a sensitive buy isn’t so far-fetched. Also, you mentioned you were paying cash. The clerk may have been following procedure; not an infringement intended.

I agree with you. You were buying a legal product. WITH CASH. It's none of the vendor's DAMN business what your "legal" status is. This is NOT a voting booth or a job interview. It's a free-market transaction.

I've heard other horror stories on other threads about Dick's. Let me be the first to say: Dick's is for d**ks.

IIRC, the US Constitution applies to its citizens. If a non-citizens wishes to purchase and has to answer a question, there is no inherent violation of the 2nd Amendment.

All Men may be created equal, but the 2A to me is only for Citizens.

There are ZERO laws on the books about foreigners buying ammo. Brits and Auatralians come here all the time to shoot and can buy all the ammo they want. This is one more infringement......and yet many here willfully go along. (in the name of safety of course)

Effing laughable.

Your ‘foreigners’ should be subjected to the same ‘controls’ that foreign countrys place on American Citizens. This country is not for foreigners; it is for ‘citizens’.

A private company refusing to sell ammo to noncitizens is not an infringement of rights. A private company asking if you are a citizen is not an infringement of rights.

For what it's worth department......

Dick’s Sporting Goods new ammo purchase policy clarified…

(GunNews) – At least three members of Guns Save Life have approached our leadership asking, “What’s up with Dick’s?” in response to our members’ recent experiences purchasing ammunition at the store.

“It’s a new law,” one member said he was told, while another member was told it was because the Dick’s chain is now selling AR-15s in their stores.

Guns Save Life’s GunNews Editors John Boch and John Naese stopped by Friday morning, September 14th and talked with the Champaign, IL store manager David Eades to seek clarification.

Mr. Eades said that the company had recently changed policy, chain-wide, and was now asking purchasers of ammunition to verify they are U.S. citizens before allowing them to complete ammunition purchases.

This is the message that Dick’s Sporting Goods is asking ammunition
purchasers prior to completing an ammo transaction.

18 USC 922 (d) It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or otherwise
dispose of any firearm or ammunition to any person knowing or
having reasonable cause to believe that such person -

So, if you’re looking for “gay” stuff, you should buy one of them kayaks....the kind you can ‘bind’ to the top of your VW or Mini-Cooper and drive up to the mountains to get into some white water and get all wet with your ‘roommate’....
