I drive through this area frequently. There is a huge County Forest Preserve in the area, Busse Woods. It is connected to a huge web of other Forest Preserves, local parks, and a long series of rivers and lakes. There is, in fact, a size able herd of Elk in this area.

I imagine those will be on the kitty menu soon.

Now you know the Eastern Cougar is extinct!
That's what my DNR tells me!

Would they tell me something not true?

Need I place the sarcasm tag?

What state?

I used to hear them scream back when I hunted in WV (back when I was in high school!)

Well I was told that was their scream. I never saw any, had friends who said they did.

That she was. And she did a damn good job of it. And the kind of class act one sees very little of now.

Funny thing, she was only 36 when she acted in The Graduate. I’d almost be accused of cradle robbing if I got caught with a woman of that age. Still, might be worth the stigma......

Actually what happened as my wife an I were driving on the country road where live and sawza large cat cross the road 75 feet ahead of us. She pulled up a picture of a bobcat on her iPhone and it didn’t match what we saw. We pulled up a mountain lion and it was a dead match for what we both saw. We called the Tolland Ct state police barracks and reported it. The dispatcher said thanks and hung up. No report as to where the cat was sighted was taken. Three or four other reports were made in the two weeks around our report but the official denials persist. I don’t knowcwhy it’s important to them to deny the evidence.

From a friend who is a WV DNR officer, if they acknowledged there was an Eastern Cougar in WV, then the state DNR would have to go and do a population assay. That's hard, time consuming and extremely expensive better to deny until absolutely forced to do it, then the Federals might supply money and manpower.
