Good Morning America” weather anchor Sam Champion and his longtime boyfriend Rubem Robierb are engaged to be married. “We are thrilled and so excited and thank everyone for their good wishes,” Champion said. “I’ve never been happier to share a bit of personal news,” he tweeted.
Champion and Robierb met through mutual friends a few years ago in Miami, where Robierb lives. Robierb, who was born in Brazil, is a fine-arts photographer who shows his work in Miami, Atlanta, Santa Monica and New York. The two plan to wed later this year — possibly on New Year's Eve.

I normally wouldnt comment but I really feel the need to get this out. I for one am happy for them. I don’t think our government has any right EVER to tell somebody they can’t get married! If you don’t agree thats your problem! It’s bull crap this debate even goes on in the United States! You can’t take away somebody’s rights because you don’t agree. I know there are alot of people that feel the same way I do. I would encourage them to stand up and speak out. This injustice has got to end. Congrats to the couple.

I hear what you are saying. But, what rights exactly are taken away? And, how exactly do you define marriage in the law? What is your position on the polygamy debate and the incest debate? If you are saying that nobody has any right to tell you who you can or can’t marry, then it logically leads to discussing whether group marriage, polygamy, or even consensual incest relationships will be so recognized.
Please don’t surrender the language to the liberal soddomites. Always put homosexual “marriage” or “engagement” in quotes to signify non-compliance and disagreement. You won’t be violating FR posting requirements to add the “quote” marks.

If you’re any older than 25, you are lost, and it will only be all the more difficult for you as time goes on.
You are making an assumption that marriage should be any two people. Who are you to judge those who wish to live in polygamy, for example? You are not adhering to your own standards. You would define marriage as any two people. Your definition also discriminates against some people. Why would you limit marriage to just two?
On the one hand, you say that nobody has a right to tell anyone who they can or can’t marry, but on the other hand, you apparently want to see marriage defined in a certain way. Those who wish to preserve traditional marriage also want to see marriage defined in a certain way. You have a lot in common with the marriage traditionalists.
