I hope you never have to do this but on a trip or cheap vacation here's how.."If you do find yourself suddenly living in your car, it is not the end of the world. Living in a car is a heck of a lot better than living on the streets. Your car provides you with security, transport, warmth, electricity and more. You can store your belongings in your car. You can sleep in your car. Your car protects you from weather to a degree. People have lived and even thrived when living in cars."

*lots of references here - bookmark..."What is car cooking? Car cooking is the practice of cooking food within the engine bay of your car, or van, or truck. I am not sure where it originated, but I've heard that the British military started to teach its soldiers the technique as a survival skill back in the 70s. It would not surprise me if some enterprising person in a military situation realised that they could cook food on the engine of their car.....

Asolar shower can be had for less than a hundred bucks. Taking a dump? Wake up in the Walmart parking lot and buy some coffee afterwards.

Camping in a van like that in the South during April-October would be pure misery, unless you had some altitude.

Southern heat can be dealt with..I met a old guy who took out the window of his camper/van and installed a small window unit. He would stop at camp sites that offered electrical hookups for a few bucks and said he and hid ‘friend’ could sleep quite well thru the night ...

Fifty cents a day for a luxurious hot shower is worth every penny, especially when the rest of your life consists of living out of your vehicle.

Check out THOUSAND TRAILS. For $500 a year you can spend 30 days at regional places. After that it’s 2-3 bucks a day. For 2k/yr it’s all over the country. So the real question is this: What does that Honda contraption have over a Toyota Sienna?

Starbucks and Costco are awesome for road trips. At Starbucks, there’s something for (almost) everyone AND free wi-fi. Costco has super cheap meals (hotdogs, pizza).

Yep, been there and done that.

Showers in college locker rooms, public park sprinkler systems at night, random ponds....

Fishing for timed out foods in McDonalds dumpsters.

Collecting cans for aluminum @ 1/2 cent each.

Gorging at Souper Salad all you can eat with 1/2 off coupons lifted from newspapers in the early am.

Good times

Nice digs.

Or you could buy an old Airstream and remodel it yourself.
