Exclusive: Rolling Stones Concert Tix Will Go on Sale This Weekend

Exclusive: The Rolling Stones will indeed play 50th anniversary concerts. And I am told they will go on sale this weekend–maybe as soon as Friday. Ticketmaster will handle the sales. All hell is going to break loose, too. What I’m told: confirmed dates are November 26 and 27 at the O2 Arena in London. December 15th and 16th are set for the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The dates for the Barclays Center in Brooklyn are coming, but not agreed to yet. This column was first to break the Prudential Center news two weeks ago. We were also first to tell you about Barclays and O2. So what’s been the delay? Money, money, money. The Stones want it. Richard Branson is putting up $25 million to make all this happen with concert promoter Paul Dainty. Once all the London-New York shows are sold, look for more dates. You know that Los Angeles and a few other big cities are guaranteed in 2013.

Never had any use for them. They’re very instrumental in making rock-n-roll look filthy. Not sure why anyone cares about them anymore. They’ve always bordered on being disgusting. That’s my opinion. So there!

Fifty years on three (sometimes) four chords.

I can't understand it.

The Kenyan must go.

Just as amazing, I was at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut last month in which Bob Dylan was giving a concert (and releasing an album of all new material).

Now Bob Dylan has also been recording since 1962 so he has been in the music business for 50 years also.

I wonder where L'il Wayne will be in 50 years.

The old stuff is awesome, especially Mick’s singing. Age won’t be denied though.

Wish they’d write some new stuff, old age has interesting facets.

Sittin’ here listening to “For No Reason At All In C” by Scott Robinson. Quiet home. Family. Cheap beer. FR. Libs in meltdown.

Paying out the wazoo for Stones tickets and experiencing public mayhem in person has no appeal on this end.

Yeah, and three and four chords are the foundation of rock and roll and blues.

Or, as Savage would say—they’re out there with their transfusion trees playing guitar and drums...

I’ll bet tickets cost a fortune, particularly for the front rows.

I assume when Keith Richard passes on, science will study the body in depth. Certainly a wonder of longevity.

The wife and I saw them last in 2006 and they were still kicking butt and enjoying themselves on stage. Quoting Bob Seger, “all Chuck’s children are playing his licks”, so crank them amps and rock on boys.

Their new single “Doom & Gloom” is coming out tomorrow morning, but, strangely enough, it will not have a B-side as I understand it. Have you ever seen a one sided 45?

Now that I'm 60, I begin to get some of those 60s lyrics, like "Go Away Dandelions" and "Sunshine Superman".

Dandelions:
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion

He's thinking about suicide (ie dandelions cover a graveyard). No secrets after death. Death gives us final knowledge. Please go away, thoughts of suicide.

Sunshine Superman:
Sunshine came softly through my a-window today
Could've tripped out easy a-but I've a-changed my ways

Suicide again. Thinking about jumping out the window over her. Sunshine gave him courage. Saved his life.

If we made the same tired ‘ageist’ jokes about B.B. King, they’d call us, and we’d call ourselves “RACIST” which is a crime graver than murder in this country in this age, don’t kid yourself!
