After documenting a heart-breaking story about cyber-bullying on a video posted to YouTube last month, 15-year-old Amanda Todd was found dead Wednesday night in Coquitlam. Her tragic death - a suspected suicide - has prompted many to speak out about the dangers of bullying, especially in the age of social media.

Video was really hard to watch...
This is sad. It is an unfortunate and unnecessary loss of a young life. I fear for our society. What in the he77 possesses todays youth to think that it is acceptable to take things to this level? Sure, there have always been bullies, but it seems as if there is competition to see who can be the most deranged among today’s youth. Parents, churches, synagogues, and everyone involved with youth need to get a handle on morals and self-respect lest we slide further into this abyss.

Unfortunately, many kids today are simply monsters.

1 year later someone messages her a screenshot of her flashing them + threatens to show her friends, family, school, etc. if she doesn’t give him a “strip show”
he shows them all
she is miserable, no friends, sits alone, made fun of, etc.
she switches schools
still no friends
starts talking to some guy
guy has a girlfriend
guy tells her to come over while gf is out of town
they hook up
he tells gf
gf + guy and many others approach girl and make fun of her
gf tells girl that no one likes her (50+ people around)
person yells to hit her
gf beats up girl
girl tries to kill herself by drinking bleach
amber lamps saves the day
switches schools again
gf and others keep saying chit like “i wish she succeeded”, “hopefully next time the bleach is stronger”, “please kill yourself”, etc.
girl gets on antidepressants and goes to therapy
overdoses on meds, amber lamps to the rescue again
still bullied, terrible anxiety, panic attacks, self-confidence issues, etc.
begs for help
ends up killing herself

Sounds like a lot of her problems would have gone away if she or her parents had shut down her Facebook account.
Who is running her camera? There is someone holding the camera.
Connect with God and your family; disconnect from the nonsense.
Facebook is as evil as they come. Parents should always monitor their kids facebook page. We do. Anything can happen. It can destroy lives. It can, has and will come back to destroy lives if not properly parented. Kids don’t get it sometimes.

So heartbreaking.
I can’t understand it, either. When I was a kid in the 70s, there was no shortage of bullied, unpopular kids. Not a single one of them ever committed suicide, yet today it’s nothing unusual.
Poor girl....rest in peace.
