Ridicule Can be Countered. How to Disrupt the "Delphi Technique" (Alinsky Method)

Biden's caustic and offensive stratgegy of ridiculing Ryan is from Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals". The following links will explain a version of RforR called, "The Delphi Technique". It is used effectively to manipulate concensus. Read, learn and practice.

It’s just another attempt to tie current events to some
obscure crap that never worked in the first place.

Fear-mongering basically.

Attributing some magical effects to some hippie-radical scribbling.

Pretty effing weak, if you ask me.

We need not add credence to this bullshite.

Did anyone else notice that the way Biden acted last night is clearly the way the administration has acted toward the people?

Never (that I know of) has an administration been more at odds with the will of the people than this one and Biden typified it with his rude laughter.

The people express themselves and obama just keeps true to his ideology; the ultimate “in your face”. Biden’s ongoing laughter, last night was right in line.

Delphi technique is pointing a meeting to a particular goal or conclusion without letting them consider alternatives. Like a dam bursting, push the meeting to your destination, leaving opponents stunned, or dragged along.

To disrupt it, remain calm, stay on point, don't rise to the bait.
Then find them in the parking lot and throw dog poop on their shoes.

We do seem to give way to much credence to Alinksy. Machiavelli said it all first, anyway. It's not like before Alinsky no one had tried ridicule, big lies, attacking an individual, personal attacks, etc., before.

I think sane people recognize an A-Hole when they see one. Biden got a lot of people to see him as such last night.

Did anyone else notice Biden point his finger at the moderator and say something to the effect.. Martha, I didn’t expect this from you.

And the part where Biden mentioned Syria and that we were analyzing who the good guys are so we can give them the equipment they need...so do we have people there doing this?

Looks like Ryan knew what to expect. Didn't take the bait.
I thought Ryan handled himself presidentially. Biden was so annoying I had to mute whenever he spoke.

The way to counter it is to deal with it directly. Ryan did not do that.

George Bush did it effectively against Al Gore in their debate just by cocking his head and looking at Gore in a manner that said Gore was acting really wierd. It took no words.

Ryan just kept going with this message. Biden overplayed his hand, however, which is what saved Ryan. Ryan should have been preparred, turned to Biden and said something like, Joe, thermal nuclear war is a pretty serious subject. Laughing at it is not good.

Or he could have just said, Joe, I know what tactic you are trying to use. It is right out of Alinsky’s book. Explain the Alinsky tactic for the viewers. Then say, keep playing games if you like, but this nation has serious economic troubles, there are millions of views looking to see which one of us has the best solution. What they are getting from you is a cheap debate tactic.

Something like that.

I give them both a pass on Syria as the correct answer is just too un-pc to be spoken at the debate.

As long as their killing each other, why would we care?

This link worked for me. http://www.learn-usa.com/transformation_process/acf001.htm

I saw it at work very clearly once; one tactic was to quickly pie-slice (gerrymander) the large group into "small groups" in such a way that critics were isolated from each other; get each small group to write up its policy recommendations and have a facilitator summarize them (the summary left out most critical elements); then in the grand wrap-up, all the small-groups' "recommendations" (which turned out to be all the same) were gathered and "summarized" by facilitators again, the summary being a second filter which left not the smallest trace of any dissent.

It gave the appearance of "democratic process" when in fact all the results were pre-determined.

The key to winning a debate is, don’t concentrate TOO MUCH one what you’re going to say next! Stay in the NOW, listen to your opponent otherwise you’ll miss out on opportunities to counter punch!

“..the appearance of ‘democratic process’...”

Off topic slightly - this technique works when the people in the small groups are naive and do not suspect that they are being used. The Bishop in our diocese managed to have many parishes closed and/or combined using this method and the suckers thought they had decided it themselves. It was chilling how well it worked, in fact, and some of the most beautiful historic churches are closed now, while hideous suburban churches remained open. It was smoooth ...

Let’s all stay super vigilant so the dems don’t manipulate us in these ways. When people don’t realize they are being controlled, the method works.

This technique has been used frequently in the public schools when dealing with parents who are objecting to some radical policy. It is especially useful when there is a controversy. The officials give the appearance of “listening” to the outrage, but when everything is over, nothing changes.

Biden was playing to the theater of his mind. It is scary to imagine what he thinks of himself in there.

But yes, Ryan should have caught and held Biden’s eyes until Biden got the message, or as you say, challenged Slow Joe to make eye contact. Or he could have said, “When I think sentencing our children’s children children to penury is funny, I will let you know.” Just call sh!t for what it is as soon as possible.

“When I think sentencing our children’s children children to penury is funny, I will let you know.”
I think that that is at the root of a lot the the problem. I’m retired and I collect Social Security - but I have never voted or indicated that I thought that Social Security was anything but a Ponzi scheme which is highly seductive but in fact is slanted towards leaving young people holding the bag.

The trouble with the Social Security system is that it doesn’t have an independent investment base. It is all “invested” in “safe” government bonds. Let’s face it, historically government bonds have been safe, and they always will be safe in dollar-denominated terms. But when government gets its credit rating downgraded by Moody’s, that is no joke. When the debt skyrockets, at some point people sober up and realize that there isn’t enough money in the world to pay the retire that debt - and then that “safety” becomes a bitter joke.

It’s a Ponzi scheme because the Government - acting as our "fiduciary" “invests” the money in its own debt. This results in a situation where a single entity - in this case the government - writes and IOU to itself and claims that it has economic value. It doesn’t - when it comes time to draw on the SSTF, the Social Security Administration will present a bond to the Treasury and the Treasury will have to print dollars to honor that bond. That is, it will have to borrow that money on the open market - and its credit rating will tank in the process.

And that is a sword of Damoclese hanging over the heads of our own children and grandchildren. On a personal level, the only way to ameliorate that situation is to pass as much of that Social Security money down to your children as you can. The government told us that the payroll tax wasn’t a tax but an investment. But it really was a tax, because that money is gone. We should accept that reality and, to the extent your circumstances permit, indemnify your children against it.

Here is Tea Party leader Heather Gass’ description on You Tube of the Delphi Technique:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1JhnFG82FQ&feature=related

It is how the Left rams their agenda down our throats. This is the Obama Regime, ramming their agenda down our throats and screw the American public. It is Joe Biden controlling the debate and ramming his lies down our throats.

The good thing is that America is now becoming aware of their “Delphi Technique.” In November, America will ram their crap down their throats, I predict.
