Born again Bond: In the new film 007 dies then comes miraculously back to life.

To countless men like me who are still schoolboys at heart — and to countless women for whom Daniel Craig’s craggy good looks are cinematic catnip — the universally ecstatic reviews of the new James Bond film make almost shamefully pleasurable reading.

After 50 years, in which the movies have often descended to abject self-parody, Bond is a hero who should, by rights, have long ago shuffled off to the retirement home.

Instead, as Mail film critic Christopher Tookey wrote in later editions of Saturday’s paper, the new 007 adventure, Skyfall, is ‘one of the finest of all time’.

If you take James Bond to be a code name for a spy and not a real person the movies make a lot more sense.

Naomie Harris in the Pirates of the Caribbean, and Skyfall. One of these movies did not fully appreciate her talent.

I think this may rate a trip to the moviehouse, I have been terribly dismayed at the high prices of theater tickets and refreshments, to the point I will bring in my own food and drink and only for the best reviewed films.

All others I wait for the Bluray.

In 2001 the average US movie ticket was $7.00 adjusted for inflation. Last year it was $7.93.

FWIW.

Refreshment prices are ridiculous. I haven’t bought any in decades.

Sort of like MI6's own Dread Pirate Roberts.

The film was dreadful. An insult to the tv series.

I’ll drink a beer or two before entering the movie theater. Bond goes down best in an altered state. Maybe I’ll bring in a flask////// shaken not stirred thank you very much

I sure hope Skyfall is better than “Quantum of Solace.” I really hated that movie starting with its title. Plus what were the bad guys trying to do? Raise water bills in Bolivia. Talk about mundane! Plus Bond, for the first time ever, did not bag the Bond girl.

I have never seen a Daniel Craig Bond movie. Craig the first actor of all the others who doesn’t like Bond.

I have always hated that damn James Bond. I'd like to kill him. -- Sean Connery

Okay, so Sean Connery later said he didn't hate James Bond. He just wanted to try other roles.

But I suspect they all felt that way sooner or later. If Roger Moore didn't, it was only because he didn't put the effort into playing any role.

Miami Vice, the film, had some interesting gunfight scenes...I have to say that casting of Lt. Castillo in the movie was strange...
