Silicon loves those Gators which actually have as a group the Gators at #1. Both OK and USC cracked the top 10. There are ZERO bowl eligible Big 10 = 12 teams in the Top 25. Northwestern is the top Big 10 = 12 team at 28.

FYI..really good article on the BCS poll by Pat Forde at YahooSports. ( there's a link at RealClearSports)

It's all good fun now, because the teams will end up playing each other for the most part.

His key point is that the computers LOVE strength of schedule ( which explains why Gators are #2) whereas most voters don't give it that much credence.

Kirk Herbstreet, on BCS show on ESPN ( and you can watch it online) agrees, says most voters can't tell he difference between Beavers and Ducks..they just hear "Oregon.."

Biggest question after this week..will Mack Brown last the season at Texas...wonder how the Longhorn Network ratings are doing? LOL

Mark May graded the entire Big Ten with an “F.” Northwestern has exciting games, he should have made at least one exception with that grading.

We’ll see how good the Gators are this week, South Carolina is going to be one mad football team, but Driskel keeps impressing with his big plays. If they survive the next two weeks, they’ll certainly be in the hunt.

Oregon is #1, or #2. NOT #3.

Gonna be a really good game. Glad it's at the Swamp..wonder what kind of reception Spurrier gets?

You have FReepmail.

Notre Dame in the top 10 is a joke. They’d get skull dragged in the SEC.

In fact, why does the media continue with the charades of Oregon, KSU,etc? Has any of them paid attention the last 6 years?

The real top 4:

1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. LSU
4. South Carolina
5. University of some SEC BCS victim.

Ack! Acronym overload. Ohio State is in sports jail and can't be on the BCS list this year so it must be some other OSU. Then I had to look to see how the drunken fratboys at Ohio University (mascot is a student in a polo shirt passed out in a parking lot) got to number 8. Nope, it's just Oklahoma. :-)

Spurrier should always get a nice reception for what he did for our program. No Spurrier...No two titles with Urban. Heck we never even won the SEC before Spurrier came here.

Come on now - it's the Big East. We have high school teams down here that could go undefeated in the Big East. The SEC is where Big East teams go when they drink their milk and grow up.

Lurking just outside the BCS Top Ten is THE Mississippi State University, getting ready for their titanic struggle against univ. of alabama-tuscaloosa October 27.

The computer rankings will sort out a bit more. Alabama will play Miss St, LSU and possibly UF/SCar in the SECG....so that will move them up.

Miss St plays a tougher end of schedule than beginning.

Fortunately, almost everyone has to fight this out on the gridiron. Before they can win the crystal trophy,

Alabama has LSU, Texas A&M, Iron Bowl, *SEC championship game.

Florida has South Carolina, Georgia, Florida St., *SEC championship game.

Oregon has USC, Oregon St., *Pac 12 championship game.

Kansas St. has Texas, West Virginia

1-loss South Carolina has Florida, *SEC Championship game.

Notre Dame has Oklahoma, USC.

1-loss Oklahoma has Notre Dame, West Virginia.

Oregon St. has Stanford, Oregon, *Pac-12 championship game.

1-loss LSU has Alabama, *SEC Championship game.

1-loss So. Cal has Oregon, Notre Dame, *Pac-12 championship game.

* - if they win their respective division.

So, you see, everyone still has at least two tests left on their schedules with Alabama and Kansas St. probably the easiest roads to the title game but certainly not a cakewalk.

Kansas St. has Texas, West Virginia.

West Virginia looks a whole lot less intimidating after that beating Texas Tech laid on them. And Texas is on a course to give up more yards this year than any other team in the university's history. Oklahoma is a good team, and K-State went down to Norman and beat them on their home field. The Wildcats are for real. They may not have as much talent as some schools, but they are better disciplined, better coached, and the believe in themselves. I think their number 4 ranking is well earned.

Nobody does less with more than Texas, what a disgrace, Mack should be gone. Just like with Auburn, catch lighting in a bottle at QB, then nothing after they leave.
