FoxNews down on DirecTV
FoxNews Network ^ | 10/16/2012 | Vanity

Watching Heather and Heather on FoxNews around 0545 EST, and suddenly it went out, with a messaging stating I was no longer authorized for that channel. The others work fine...

TOPICS: Chit/Chat; TV/Movies

Now have a "technical difficulty" signature, but what's up?

Is this an Obama "October Surprise"?

We’re having the same problem here, temporary technical difficulty on Direct TV. I wonder if DISH Network and cable TV are broadcasting FOX News?? Do you suppose Obama succeeded in booting it off the air?

I tried Imus for about 1/2 second. I'm now watching a DVR'd "Iron Chef America" (Garces v Weitzman, with funky looking 'silky' chickens!.

If I can't see those beautiful women, I can still watch beautiful food when it's done!!!!)!

It's back now, but my reset did not work. I even used the iPad app to refresh my receiver, just in case the monthly ping messed up!

Curious that these "technical difficulties" start when Zero is in the debate spotlight!

FOX is back up. Whew!

But I found this story at the FOX News website. Apparently you can’t protest in Obama’s presence and now you can’t call him a Communist. Does this kind of censorship remind you of Nazi Germany?

ABC Censors Obama Communist Joke
The ABC television network has removed jokes about President Obama and former President Clinton from an upcoming episode of “Last Man Standing,” according to the show’s star – Tim Allen.

Allen told The New York Post that the Disney-owned network yanked a number of political jokes from an episode that is scheduled to air just before the presidential election.

...just say’en. we got DTV back in the Clintoon Administration ONLY because of FOX.

FOX is our always-on station but we’re really disappointed with DTV. What good is 200 channels if they all go to commercial at the same time and 100 of them are infomercial channels?

Only because of FOX do we tolerate DTV.

We got DISH Network during the Clinton administration. Clinton issued the waiver that allowed Echostar to launch their satellite from China. Consequently China got all of our satellite technology.

Read Deception by Charles R Smith. You couldn’t find a copy of the book anywhere during the 2008 primaries when Hillary was running. I wondered if that is what Obama was holding over her.

Cable is NOT Dish. This seemed to be a nation-wide interruption. Mine went out just as Hillary was taking blame for the lack of security in Benghazi. It almost seemed like WITCHCRAFT! But, how could it affect BOTH cable and dish?

I did but they took it off my package a week ago. They also removed Current (which I could care less about),and the DIY network.
Removal of The Blaze PO’d me though.

"reset receiver and it works"

I wish it would work for our lousy Directv DVR. That thing freezes and pixels out regularly, despite having performed repeated resets and everything else those hapless "technicians" told us to do. It froze up Sunday night during the season premiere of the Walking Dead. We're about ready to go back to cable (so you know it must be bad).

They may both get their feed the same way. Just because one is satellite to you and the other is cable to someone else doesn’t tell you how the incoming gets to both.

If that’s a leased unit (and unless something unusual is going on, it should be), they are supposed to repair or replace it if it’s going screwy. I had a few bad units in a row, and customer service finally went out of their way to send me a specific model known for being more reliable — the drawback to leased replacements is that they tend to come from refurbs, so you could run into multiple bad units in a row.

That said, I’m done with ‘em. When my contract expires next year, I’m dropping the whole thing, going with OTA, BD/DVD, iTunes, and Netflix (or similar) only.

We last talked to Directv on Sunday night, when I was so mad that I called them up and read them the riot act. The guy on the other end kept assuring me that they’re all about customer service (eyeroll), and since the problem seems unfixable, they will replace it. But the online research I’ve done confirms what you say. There are countless tales of people receiving DVR replacements that are just as screwed up as the originals.

It’s all very tiresome at this point.....and even with their channel lineup, we rarely find anything we really want to watch. You might have something there with the streaming idea.

Give this site a try mostly free right now. I have been a paying member for a few years now and it is worth the small fee. I stream everything no use for SAT or Cable if you have at least a 200k internet connection
