Nike finally dumps Lance Armstrong over doping allegations
The Daily Mail Online ^ | October 17, 2012 | Daily Mail Reporter

Nike has announced today that it is cutting all sporting ties with disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong, citing insurmountable evidence that he participated in doping and misled the company for more than a decade.

The sportswear giant issued a statement this morning saying it was terminating Armstrong's contract 'with great sadness.'

'Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner,' it said.

Just minutes before Nike’s announcement, Armstrong revealed he was stepping down as chairman of his Livestrong cancer-fighting charity so that the organization can steer clear of the whirlwind surrounding its founder. Nike has said it will to continue to support Livestrong.

................

Together with Nike, the Livestrong Foundation has raised more than $80 million through the sale of yellow Livestrong wristbands since May 2004. The company also produces and sells a line of Livestrong-branded products, including shoes and T-shirts.

Nike is also expected to change the name of the Lance Armstrong Fitness Center building named after Armstrong at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.

Nice to know Bills of Attainder are practiced by the US Government, even though the US Constitution forbids them...and Americans applaud. Sad. We don’t deserve this country.

The way you’re always pounding on Lance Armstrong, I’ve gotta wonder - did he steal your girlfriend once?

Did you ever post any stories about Mark McGuire actually admitting he used steroids?

Here’s one from 2010:

You’ve been here since 2006.

Did you post any like that?

You mean articles with statements like this in it:

“Baseball commissioner Bud Selig issued a statement today, saying that he is “pleased that Mark McGwire has confronted his use of performance-enhancing substances as a player,” and that McGwire’s admission “will make Mark’s re-entry into the game much smoother and easier.”

Nope.

How about this article:

http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20100111&content_id=7900248&vkey=pr_stl&fext=.jsp&c_id=stl

“I never knew when, but I always knew this day would come. It’s time for me to talk about the past and to confirm what people have suspected. I used steroids during my playing career and I apologize. I remember trying steroids very briefly in the 1989/1990 off season and then after I was injured in 1993, I used steroids again. I used them on occasion throughout the nineties, including during the 1998 season.

“I wish I had never touched steroids. It was foolish and it was a mistake. I truly apologize. Looking back, I wish I had never played during the steroid era.

Somebody wrote it.

“...Others write ‘em. I post ‘em.”.

Apparently McGuire never went after your girlfriend.

Apparently McGuire never went after your girlfriend.

He never went after other people's reputations either, or bullied other athletes into doping, or tried to intimidate them into silence, or lied in depositions, or had 26 witnesses lined up against his diminishing credibility.

Is that the point of your vendetta?

You’re getting as tedious as Colofornian with all his “Vote Obama - he wants to destroy the country, but at least he’s not a Mormon” posts.

Do you always misrepresent others...or is this a new pattern for you?

I've never told anybody to "vote obama"...

I'm supporting Virgil Goode.

And frankly, FR voters in 43 states could vote for Goode -- and it won't make one single difference in ANY electoral vote in the bottom-line outcome of this election.

Obama would still win the blue states (FREEPER blue-state voters aren't going to give Romney any wins there); and Romney would still win the red states (if 100% of FR voters in clear red states voted for Goode, there's still no way Obama could claim ANY of those state electoral votes).

Those who don't embrace at least Goode votes in the non-swing states show they are more pro-Romney than they are anti-liberal; more pro-abortionist Romney than they are pro-life.

Nice Try —

But I have no vendetta.

He put himself in the public eye and made himself a news story. He has only himself to blame.

He got others to do his dirty work and now he has you shilling for him.

Hey, Duncan, you know the rules here. Don't take an argument from one thread to another.

Lance Armstrong knew the rules too but he thought they only applied to others.

You missed the most important difference here, McGuire admitted it. Lance still denies.
