Condolences to family and friends of Eddie Yost.
When John F. Kerry (who served in VietNam) ran, he wanted to show what a regular guy and big sports fan he was. He named Eddie Yost as his favorite Sox player. But Yost never played for the Sox. He also said his current favorite was Manny Ortiz, mixing up David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez. When he threw the pregame opening pitch, he stood in front of the mound and still bounced it in front of the plate.
I also have fond memories of Mr. Yost, from The ‘69 Mets. I was particularly pleased when my nephew played Little League with his Grandson (also Eddie Yost), in Huntington Beach. I sent Zack a text to inform him of the news, but he had already been to the Son and Grandson’s home, offering condolences. He also said that he met Mr. Yost several times, and he was a “Great Guy”. Now he plays with the immortals.
