SO in the last few months, I was one of the victims of the GoDaddy hacking, and it has caused serious consternation in my business over the security of our email provider.
GoDaddy hosts our email and domain, our website is just a front page with contact info.
I am in search of a replacement, a host provider with a good track record for small businesses and able to provide daily backups of our files.
Please help me out with personal recommendations and experiences with various email and website hosting providers.
Thanks,
Could I get a Tech Ping List bump for this thread please.
Thanks,
http://www.hostmysite.com/ has been good for me going on 12 years.
I use dreamhost. On the plus side it is cheap for virtually unlimited storage and bandwidth. On the minus side their network can go down inexplicably.
check local folks out. pay an extra couple bucks a month to be able to actually call/meet the people that are in charge of what you actually need. Take a look at craigslist, ask a few local designers/developers who they use and recommend.
They are all thieves and susceptible to hacking. I use Godaddy still, but also moniker.com and ixwebhosting which gives you 15 free ip addresses.
For email, you can try messagelabs.
I’ve been on 1and1.com for about 8 years. Not the best first-line customer service (offshore mixed with local). But for the money they’re WAY better than nickel&dime GoDaddy for email count, storage. I haven’t used the 3000 emails you get with it.
hostmonster.com
I’d go with a “Reagan.com” address host....
I’ve used lunarpages for my domain hosting for quite a few years. On line support (rarely needed) is very good.
http://hostmonster.com Great service.
My third or fourth hosting company, am perfectly happy with http://www.bluehost.com/ .
Our business has been a 1&1 user for a decade now. We have not experienced any problems during that period. I think they provide a good product.
Low cost, unlimited email addresses, additional sites at no extra charge, templates if you like plus more.
Bump for later.
Outlook.com
or Office365 for email.
