It’ll either be a one time cannon or a bomb....

To be FAIR, Kirk used ginormous diamonds lying all over the place and the "wick" was from Starfleet trousers, which were made of God knows what. Plus, who said that the "cannon" was made of bamboo?

It was an alien world, with carbon, sulfur spilling out of rocks, and a "Gorn" running around in a rubber suit.

Have to give this one a "maybe".

If we can seriously discuss the Walking dead, I’m giving the Gorn the benefit of a doubt.

"It’s kind of scary you know those details"

Guilty as charged.

I know just about anything from TOS.

But don't ask me anything about ANY other SF series or book.

:)

So many things wrong with this video

Most important this was was a controlled experiment done by the Mentrons nothing was by chance.

The bamboo wasn't from earth, the charcoal, saltpeter or sulfur wasn't from earth we don't know their purity. The mentrons most likely placed these ingredients in easy to get to locations so they purified it.

They never got an expert to know how to put Black powder together or a cannon.

In other words Trash in trash out on this so called Myth

And worst of all, they sent a red shirted guy to try to recreate it. Of course the red shirted guy is going to get blown up, haven't they watched the show?

Actually it was the Metrons, not the Mentrons.

Plus, who said that the "cannon" was made of bamboo?

Add in that the alien that put them their stated that there would be "weapons" to be found...

So it not bamboo made in to a cannon...it was a cannon made to look like bamboo

Hey Mythbusters ..come on

...Star Trek ...it had Warp drive...Transporters... even brains transplanting ...

And you go after a bamboo cannon as the Star Trek Myth to bust?

Star Trek - Mythbusters - Gorn Cannon (Complete)

All I can really remember about that episode is imitating the voice of the Gorn for weeks afterward, grossing out my little sister and finally earning the wrath of my parents, who ordered me to stop clearing my throat at the dinner table.

Much simpler solution. They had communicators, right? Just start singing MUSKRAT LOVE over and over again. The gorn stabs himself. Yes, to win using your wits is good, but to win using The Capain and Tennille is perfect. Them other aliens that set this fight up would’ve run off screaming. Not that there was anything wrong with Tony Tennille though.

I had a good friend who sang in the Auburn University choir with Toni Tennille.

we just watched the episode where spock’s brain was stolen and then reimplanted by mccoy. Mccoy starts to falter, but luckily, Spock’s vocal chords are hooked up and so he is able to guide mccoy. The assistance he gives is priceless, as if there are only four nerve attachments that contol all the movement in the arm, wrist, and fingers.

You know, if she sang that song to me, I would have to give her a standing ovation just for being so pretty. Everyone else, I’d hit em with a rake.

Well, again to be FAIR, McCoy had pretty much all of Spock's brain hooked up. To the point where Spock could talk. So I'm guessing Broca's area was nearly complete.

All McCoy had to do was "fine tune" things.

But yes, the cranial nerves should have been completed, along with the motor neurons.

Except for some reason NOT distal nerves. I.e. "my right finger...excellent".

This is one episode that was IMHO ridiculous. Even in 1968, doctors knew anatomy.

They didn't need "the teacher" to tell them that.

Come on! It’s a lizard wearing a dress! Propose to her and give her one of the diamonds. Once they beam you off the planet, tell her you’re a homosexual and give Sulu a hug. Once the gorn is gone, go find those green babes. There’s the final frontier.

Alright, I’ll give you that.... Muskrat Love will do in just about any disgusting, reptilian alien. However, nobody can beat Slim Whitman’s “Una Paloma Blanca” for sheer alien-destroying power. Look what it did to the Martians. I rest my case.

When Slim hits that high note, you can see the flying saucers shift into overdrive to get away.

Actually the song that did in the Martians was “Indian Love Call.” But I’m sure “Una Paloma” would have been just as devastating.

I see Mythbusters is back on the air. I guess their insurance settled with the various homeowners when they had their “DIY install a new window/wall and remodel your car with a cannonball at the same time” episode.
