The Giants shut down the Cards in the last 3 games as the Cards managed to score just one run in those last 3 games.

I knew that if the Giants could get back to SF they had a good chance to take the series.

Detroit will be tougher though as they are rested and can pitch Verlander twice if needed.

Last three games: SF 20, STL 1. Giants played stellar defense, Cards were very sloppy.

Detriot is well rested, but the Giants get an off day at home, while the Tigers travel tomorrow. Verlander will be formidable, but the G's bullpen is better.

The Dodgers will be very tough next year. Even now, I'd say they are more likely than the Giants to win the NL West.

For tonight, however, the Giants are National League Champions.

I could never root for New York, or Los Angeles, or Chicago. Those cities have inflicted far more cultural rot upon our nation.

Come to think of it, is there any team in a major sport that is represented by a conservative in Congress?

Let's see, a team from a city that represents Sodom & Gomorrah vs a team from a city that represents the catastrophic failure of socialist polices, programs & the welfare nanny state.

Hmmmm, who to despise the most or despise the least?

According to Wikipedia, Whitey Lockman was on second and Clint Hartung on third (as a pinch runner for Mueller) when Bobby Thompson hit The Shot Heard Round the World.

I remember that year. The Dodgers won an asterisk championship: the Reds (then in the same division) had the best record in baseball, but did not make the playoffs because of a mid-season strike.

Speaking of the Yankees . . . it will sure be interesting to see what they try and do to pull themselves out of the mess they spent themselves into. I predict they go full Obama . . . spend MORE.

The Giants have great chemistry - something that cannot be bought.

Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval are the only position players on the roster from the 2010 World Series Championship team, and Sandoval wasn’t on the active roster during the 2010 playoffs.

Aubrey Huff was also on both teams, but has played very little in 2012

The Giants GM, Brian Sabean, has a knack for finding players like 37 year old Journeyman Marco Scutaro (and NLCS MVP) who did nothing but hit the snot out of the ball since being traded to SF this summer.

No big salaries, (other than the pitching staff) no big egos.

It seems that everyone is just having a good time, fans and players and it creates great chemistry which equals wins.

It will be tough to beat Justin Verlander, but all the experts said the Giants wouldn’t beat Cliff Lee once, let alone twice in 2010.

The Tigers definitely have the advantage, but that’s why they play the games - no one thought the Giants would come back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the defending World Series Champions, especially with Barry Zito (Who wasn’t on the active roster for the 2010 playoffs) pitching Game 5 in St. Louis, but they did, and it was back to SF for the final two games.

The Giants have had my heart since I was a young girl and when I lived in the Bay Area I was a Giants season ticket holder for many years. When they won the World Series in 2010 I told me family that I could now die a happy death since I never thought a World Championship would happen in my lifetime. It will be a great World Series and I am so ecstatic the Giants are in it. Go Giants!

Congratulations to the Giants! Now on to the World Series. Trouble for the Giants is the Tigers have this gentleman named Verlander, and he has teammates named Cabrera and Coke and even Valverde. It ain’t gonna be easy. Of course as the Great Yogi said, it’s never over till it’s over!
