Maybe not the freshest of news, but this is the first time I ran across this video. It's a fairly solid quick rundown on the Spanish Flu and thought that it might be of interest here.

People just coming down with the affliction would develop the bluish tint around their lips. When they sought medical advice beleaguered doctors would say “get you name on a coffin list”.

The virus is said to have originated in Ft. Riley army base in Kansas...of all places.

I believe if memory serves me right, the hardest hit was Arkansas. My husband’s great great grandmother died in the Pandemic. We cann’t find a grave for her anywhere, and I believe that she was probably buried in a common grave, because there were so many dying at the same time.

I just finished The Great Influenza. A very good read.

There were entire villages of 300-400 people wiped out in remote areas that had had little exposure to flu over the generations.

The author also posits that it had an indirect effect on the conditions which led to WWII via Wilson's incapacitation after the Armistice.
