The front has sped up outside of model projections — if you look out your window, you will agree. I believe Sandy still has the potential to be a fish storm.

How can they predict that it will suddenly take a sharp left turn? I am a hurricane prediction noob; it seems so random to just turn left. Is it the water temp or current? Or something else?

There is a powerful jetstream dipping down out of Canada, crossing the midwest and then turning north and going back to Canada up along the Appalachians. As Sandy comes up the east coast along the Atlantic, at some point the powerful currents of the jet stream will “suck” Sandy off the ocean and pull her toward PA / OH. That’s the sharp left turn that seems to comes out of nowhere.

omg you people trust the government and media .
This hype is from a gov agency at the height of the election and they are trying to get Bengazhi gate off of the news as they even got DRudge and Freepers to talk about this “storm of the century”. We can’t win the battle against these communists if we keep believing the government and media.Obama is destroying America and the media are distracting people with this “perfect storm”. I can’t believe this.

This is from the government.

Noaa.GOV and the media

This “storm” has everything to do with Benghazi. this “storm of the century” took bengazin off the news and even on Drudge.I’’ll see you all here after the election , then maybe you might come out of the matrix the media and gov have put you in . no one will remember this “storm of the century” after the election that I guarantee. what you want to bet on that?
Unbelievable that people even here and Drudge fall for this bs “storm” bs. unbelievable. And people like you are panicking every where. the media are terrorists. This is a fake storm.

What they are making this “storm” out to be is a fake. It is NOT the huge storm they are making it out to be. Yes i was HERE for katrina and BP(and BP oil disaster was no disaster where is it now so bp was a big fake). Katrina was a real storm with 41 foot storm surge , thousands dead,175 mile per hour winds. Compare this “storm” to that .

This is like the BP thing over again except this is a communist Obama about to destroy freedom and America and people believe the gov and media even on a conservative site. unbelievable.

Get a Power Inverter instead, which can run from a 12v car battery or deep cell marine battery. Available at hardware store for much less than generators:

This "perfect storm" is from the government and media.

Noaa.GOV and the media. NOAA is a government agency. another agency faked the unemployment numbers .

This will be a joke not “the perfect storm” as the media says.

This is an October surprise and to get Benghazi gate off the news as they did even on Drudge and even got freepers and conservatives believing this bs.

I was here in new orleans for Katrina 175 mph winds , 41 foot storm surge, thousands dead, . that was a real storm. this sandy will just cause some light rain if that(Mark my words)>

BLS.Gov

This is just to get bengazi gate off the news as they did it even on Drudge

I was here in New orleans for Katrina that had a 175 mph winds. 41 foot storm surge. people get a grip.

http://eotstorm.blogspot.com/2005/08/katrinas-winds-now-at-175-mph.html

Sunday, August 28, 2005
Katrina's winds now at 175 mph

...POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC HURRICANE KATRINA...EVEN STRONGER...HEADED FOR THE NORTHERN GULF COAST...

At 10 AM CDT, the center of category five Hurricane Katrina was at 26.0 North 88.1 West, 225 miles south-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Maximum sustained winds are 175 mph and minimum central pressure is 907 millibars (26.78”). Hurricane force winds extend up to 105 miles from the center.

For anything like a normal home refrigerator, one of those inverters, even 600 watt units that clip to the battery terminals, does not have the moxie to get the compressor started. I’ve tried it. In general those inverters do not respond well to motor loads, except very light ones like an electric fan. They can carry their rated power with totally resistive loads like incandescent lights.

You all can let the media terrorize you .But aren’t these forecasts for a “perfect storm” from noaa.GOV?Yes and doesn’t a plane from the NATIONAL hurricane center go there to make sure the winds are 75 miles per hour ,exactly just barely above hurricane status? Yes . funny how the unemployment rate was just below 8% at the exact time Obama needed that to get Romney stop talking about 8% unemployment , funny how economic growth was suddenly just 2.0% not 1.9% , the gov and media are doing an all out blitz on the sheep and all are believing it even on here and on Drudge. This is the October surprise

With a ~1,500w PI, you can run a ‘fridge & freezer, or one of those and other smaller appliance(s). Depends upon total draw/load of appliances.

Connect to car battery - or for under 300w unit - run from cig lighter, let car idle, lock it, run extension cord into house/garage, and plug-in appliance(s).

You’ll have to balance appliance draw/load against P-Inverter size. They go up to 3600w, but also have limitations/considerations to consider. As do much more expensive generators.

This will answer some questions, and has a ‘PI sizer’ at bottom of page:

http://www.tripplite.com/en/buying-guides/technology-primers/inverter-how-it-works.cfm

It’s a short-term, but easy/quick solution to short-term power outages. Plenty of links there w/ advice & reviews.

If the storm actually hits it could be a pretty big deal.

Katrina was a small storm if I remember right. The problem during Katrina was the storm walls giving way and allowing NO to be flooded. By the time Katrina hit land the power was way down from what it had been and looking at the one graphic Katrina had hurricane force winds 105 out from the center during its strongest point at 175 in a very small center.

Sandy has hurricane force winds out at the same distance 105 but has tropical force winds 450 miles out. This is a very big storm ! Katrina was nothing like it.

During Irene last year the state of Virginia, where I live had 2 million people without power for a significant amount of time. I would say that is a big deal. Some as long as 2 weeks or more if I remember right. Then add on this time that it will turn cold due to Northern winds and there are possible millions and millions of people without heat, or electricity for heat, I should say. I live in a small city in southern Va. and last year in my little 2 block area 3 trees on 3 houses and one tree missed mine by 3 or 4 feet. When you have several big oaks right out side your window it is no fun.

Then also this strom is moving very slowly and sustained winds for 24 or more hours at tropical force and many trees ect are going to be down. Hopefully not a large loss of life, but potentially this is a very big and possible devestating storm. It will not blow houses a part but it will impact a lot of people. I’m hoping we miss out this time.

One park in Richmond had over a hundred thousand trees down during Isabelle. It looked like a war zone around here and one guy from Louisiana working the storm said he had never seen so many trees down. But 42 inches of rain in the 3 months prior to Isabelle caused that, and 75 MPH winds.

It’s that strong slow moving storm blowing from west to east that will cause the hurricane to turn west. As we all know, a strong storm coming from west to east is required to totally give way to one going north, northwest.

“Does anyone have any concrete reasons why this storm should make a left hand turn?”

...the exact same reasons NOAA/NWS predicted a tropical storm turning to a hurricane and taking a right-hand turn into Tampa, precisely as the Republican Convention was going on. Just how well did that prediction match reality?

NOAA , obama’s government agency is reporting a wind speed of 75 for "hurricane" sandy . NOAA are lying just so they can call it a hurricane! the media and gov say sandy is the storm of the century. Obama and the media just want to get bengazi off of the news and you and most people buy it .

LOL. Katrina was a Huge, very large, storm , 41 foot storm surge, 175 mph winds. even with the fake hype this Sandy is nothing compared to Katrina. Katrina had the highest storm surge recorded in the U.S.

http://www.wunderground.com/education/Katrinas_surge_contents.asp

"Fully 90 miles of coast from eastern Louisiana to Alabama received a storm surge characteristic of a Category 3 hurricane." you have absoloutely no clue what Katrina was if any this was a huge storm , but not this sandy which will be nothing

NOAA , obama’s government agency is reporting a wind speed of 75 for sandy . sure just so they can call it a hurricane! this would be funny if it weren't so sad how they are pulling the strings of all the puppets and the sheep believe all these lies even on here.

The winds aren't 75 as NOAA says but lower. and will get even lower with the cold water. but the media and gov say it is the storm of the century. LOL ridiculous you try to downplay katrina , i was here , but build this crap up. Obama and the media just want to get bengazi off of the news and you buy it . ridiculous. see you here after the election so i can ridicule your posts.
