The Larger Perspective of the Libyan Subsidiary Within Global Power Structures
Vanity | 10/27/2012 | Self

In order to gain perspective on the Benghazi Dereliction of Duty, it helps to understand first just who the players are.

I'm looking for personal connections between non-governmental organizations like think tanks, advocacy organizations, etc., international businesses, governments and politicians, islam, the New Left - and any others that form links between them.

We could research for years and keep finding connections around the globe that are at once startling and enlightening. Of course, this does not mean every person we come across is involved in this particular incident. But if we want to understand what we see happening, knowing the players and who they have longstanding relationships with can certainly be helpful.

To begin at the beginning - who are the political parties in Libya ?

Well, a starter list would be...

THE JUSTICE AND CONSTRUCTION PARTY (ISLAMIST)
THE AL-WATAN PARTY, also known as THE NATION PARTY (ISLAMIST)
THE CENTRIST NATIONAL PARTY (SECULAR)
THE NATIONAL FRONT PARTY (MIX BUT DOES NOT DEMAND SHARIA)

And the current leading party is...

THE ALLIANCE OF NATIONAL FORCES (LIBERAL)

A few of the "Alliance" cast of characters...

(the following bios are in various places on the internet)

Mahmoud Jibril - served as the interim Prime Minister of Libya during the Libyan Civil War He chaired the executive board of the National Transitional Council from 5 March to 23 October 2011 Jibril's government was recognized as the "sole legitimate representative" of Libya by the majority of UN states including France, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, Iran, and Qatar Jibril attended Cairo University, graduating with a degree in Economics and Political Science in 1975 At the University of Pittsburgh, he graduated with a masters in 1980 and doctorate in 1985, both in Political Science. Notably, Jibril led the team who drafted and formed the Unified Arab Training manual. He resigned as he promised to after the war's end last October (2011).

Ali Abd-al-Aziz al-Isawi - Vice-Chair of the executive board A political and education Libyan who was born in the city of Benghazi in 1966. Has a PhD in pivatisation obtained from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest Romania. He occupied the position of Minister of Economy, Trade and Investment in Libya, and was the youngest minister to fill such a post. Before taking the ministerial position, he founded the Centre for Export Development in 2006 and became the first Director General for it. He also assumed the position of Director General for the Ownership expansion program (privatization fund) in 2005.

The Academy Ali studied at in Bucharest undboubtedly has many Soros connections; one is this woman who works for the Soros foundation in Romania who also received her bachelor's at the same Bucharest Academy.

Ms. Iris Alexe coordinates the Migration and Development Programme at Soros Foundation in Romania. Her professional background and expertise cover areas such as: migration and development, integration of migrants, research and policies analysis, project management and consultancy to access European funding. She has served as a consultant at the IOM Mission in Romania and at the Uniunea Civica Solidaritatea, Bucharest. She also worked as a coordinator of EU and international funding projects at Serviciul Apel, a non profit association based in Bucharest. Ms. Alexe holds a bachelor degree in Economics and Marketing Research (Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest) and a master degree in Gender and Public Policies (National School Of Political and Administrative Studies in Bucharest).

Successor to Mahmoud Jibril: Abdurrahim El-Keib - Currently still interim Prime Minister in "caretaker" role when the next guy, Mustafa A.G. Abushagur, failed a confidence vote. Abdurrahim has an interesting bio: He left Libya in 1976 and joined the opposition. He joined the University of Alabama as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering in 1985 and became Professor in 1996 He took leave from there to direct the Division of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering at the American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, 1999–2001; he is an expert in power system economics, planning and controls.

Interestingly, Abdurrahim's alma mater, the American University of Sharjah in the UAE, was founded as kind of a joint effort between the ruler of the UAE and American interests, like several other Universities in the mideast.

One interesting board member of the American University of Sharjah is Mr. Joseph L. Brand, Senior Partner, Patton Boggs LLP, Washington, DC, USA. Patton Boggs is one of the kings of powerhouse international law and lobbying firms; Ron Brown, one time Chairman of the DNC and Commerce Secretary under President Bill Clinton was a member of the firm.

Joseph L. Brand actually delivered before the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Agricultural Consultants in Alexandria, Virginia on October 17, 1991 - a speech entitled "The New World Order". A synopsis: Regional trading blocs; Definition of principal trading blocs; Where trading blocks are headed; Impact on agricultural consultants. The speech was published in the periodical Vital Speeches of the Day;12/15/91, Vol. 58 Issue 5, p155.

Another interesting Patton Boggs partner who left the firm to work in the Clinton White House is Lenny Davis, who went on to work as a lobbyist for the nation of Pakistan after that. You may know Lenny from his appearances as a Fox News contributor. He first met Hillary Clinton while they both attended Yale Law School back in the late 1960's.

That's all for now - there is fertile ground here for continued searching.

There's some more to come that looks toward Chicago and the New Left.

Happy Hunting !

Amazed ? So was I.

Many of the friendly faces we think we know so well... are not who we think they are.

“Liberal” politicians and operatives most often have far-left associations and leanings in their youth that they have sanitized and rebranded.

Of course, they retain the same leftist philosophy in their mind, they just water it down when they speak publicly.

IMHO, it’s not the divulging of secrets - it’s the influence of these organizations such that they are _deciding_ policy and law.

I’ll see your crisis group and raise you these:

http://www.pnsr.org/
http://www.academyofdiplomacy.org/
http://www.hillsandco.com/
http://www.cfr.org/
http://www.crdfglobal.org/
http://www.american-iranian.org/
http://www.constitutionproject.org/committees/lsmembers.php
http://www.stimson.org/
http://www.eurasiagroup.net/

The all have in common: Thomas Pickering.

He served for many years, including under Reagan, and is a well-respected diplomat.

Not that Pickering is a leftist himself, but just as an examle of how the boards and management structures of non-governmental and quasi-governmental organizations, of which there are thousands, overlap all over the place, giving members all sorts of opportunity for foolish or nefarious influence.

They have members from the political left, center and right to varying degrees depending on the organizational bent. Most tend to be focused on transnational commercial interests and leftist or idealist elitist philosophies. Of course, Soros is the grandaddy of the leftist moneybags and has his fingers all over, but certainly there are many others with purposes similar to his.

So all these folks are cooking up policy, influence, etc. and pressuring governments and actively causing governmental changes of all kinds all over the world.

They are unelected - and mostly unknown - by the nations they are affecting, and yet their influence is monumental relative to the citizens of those nations, effectively wiping out the voice of voters while subjecting them to these foreign influences that are rarely if ever aligned with the best interests of local citizens.

Their PR of course always sounds wonderful at face value until you get into the details of what they’re pursuing and it’s long-run effects.

Interesting stuff.

Hadn’t read Ron Brown’s name for some time now.

Thank you for the ping and the research.

BTW - You better batten down the hatches - “Sandy” is on the way.
