Vanity: Where is Claire McCaskill?
Self | 10/28/2012 | self

Posted on 10/28/2012 7:26:37 AM PDT by Big Giant Head

Claire McCaskill is missing in action during the heat of the campaign. I understand from what little information is available in the media that her mother is seriously ill, and Claire is "at her bedside" and won't leave St. Louis. Strangely, Claire missed the DNC convention because her mother was ill. According to published reports I've seen.

However, what coincidental timing. Todd Akin's campaign has been pushing out info about her husband's business dealings, receive $50 to $60 million in stimulus dollars. Now a week before a major election with the balance of the Senate hanging perilously over Claire's head, she takes a full week off?

I only have suspicions, and nothing to back any of this up, i.e. no media coverage at all, but a week in St. Louis is a long time to cover tracks, create or destroy paper trails as necessary, rig up some friendly judges to favor late voting conditions, etc. Yet, there are NO stories, not a one that I can find that are covering Claire's day to day activities. One would think that the Democrats, and the lefty media would be ALL OVER Claire to get back into the ring, as it's a dead-heat with a week to go. But there is nothing. Democrats should be panicked! But there is nothing, just tumbleweeds in the media.

Is Claire really sitting at here mother's bedside 24/7? Should be easy to get photos, or friendly interviews in the local papers, or whatever. Or is she getting busy behind the scenes? Perhaps she is in panic mode and hiding?

I find the complete news vacuum strange, inexplicable, in fact, given the critical nature of this particular Senatorial seat, and it's national implications.

Your thoughts? Anyone know of any links to articles regarding Claire's movements in the last few days?

I wouldn’t speculate on McCaskill’s movements. That’s between her and her gastroenterologist.

I do think that if Akin wins, and I hope that’s the case, he’s going to be an unusual presence in a GOP majority in the Senate. He would seem to be conservative enough to be a part of the majority, but then again, he must feel some resentment over all the folks who bailed on him. I am hopeful that he can overcome that.

Haven’t seen her in Warren County, not like she would come here anyway.

I don’t think that she needs to show her face, Halloween notwithstanding. Last night was Game 3 of the World Series and the Oklahoma Notre Dame game. The Kansas City media market was saturated with Claire ads attacking Akin. They were non stop and she is destroying him. She can sit in her bunker behind her protective shield of left wing media sycophants and breeze to victory. This race is going to be the ugly step sister at the GOP victory ball next week.

Heh. Movements.

I’m just mystified by the vanishing act. Where are the Democrats calling for her head for pulling this? This is like McCain’t right before the ‘08 elections, pulling the “suspension” stunt, and sealing his campaign’s fate.

Probably playing prevent defense...assuming that legitimate rape alone will push her (and obamacare) across the finish line.

I would be more afraid of what she would do in a Lame Duck Senate with Angry Dems lead by Obama......

Maybe she has passed away, but if they can still win the election by not mentioning it, the Dem. Governor can appoint a replacement. How about that for a conspiracy theory?

In the early 90s, when Hillary Clinton was first lady, she would disappear to sit at someone’s “bedside” whenever the spotlight got too hot.

I'd be more worried about resentment from the people who bailed on him. The GOP-E don't take kindly to having their efforts to kneecap a real conservative defeated.

You know, you’re right. I’d forgotten about that. This is just like what Obama did as well, zipping off to Hawaii to be at his granny’s bedside. It’s an unassailable excuse, by media reporting standards. “Oh, going to be with dying relative, suspend all reporting, proceed with Republican destruction campaign.”

This election is big, BIG, and they dying mother card is being played. I’m suspicious.

No idea here either, just the endless anti-Akin TV ads. There must be 6-8 runs of those for every anti-McCaskill ad. Old gal must have some deep pockets.

Exactly. If he wins the election and the Republicans gain the majority in the Senate, look for the GOP-E to make him Chairman of the Dust Bunny Commission or some other such useless group - assuming they give him anything at all.

Maybe she is flying around in that airplane that she and her husband didn’t bother to pay taxes on.

As a Missouri Citizen, I hope Akin wins and goes to DC with a HUGE chip on his shoulder and holds the damned RINO’s feet to the fire. He owes the GOP absolutely NOTHING, zero, zip, nada. I want him to go up there and bend them to his righteous will and anger. Screw the GOP, their leadership and any fool who continues to follow their dumbasses over the cliff.

At a health care town hall meeting, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) asks people attending, “You don’t trust me?” The overwhelming response: “NO!”

Had the PhonyCon Liberals not attacked Akin over his comment...he would have had a double-digit lead now. But, we have PhonyCons who seem to care more what MSNBC has to say than what conservatives want.

Win or Lose....there will be hell to pay for the PhonyCon Liberals over their treatment of Todd Akin
