Explosive CDC Omission: Norovirus Spread Through Reusable Grocery Bags
Breitbart.com ^ | 10/27/2012 | Capitol Confidential

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently expanded its website to include a norovirus toolkit advising the ways in which one might contract the killer virus.

Among the public health agency's prescribed practices to stop the spread of the virus: "Practice proper hand hygiene … Take care in the kitchen … Do not prepare food while infected … Clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces after throwing up or having diarrhea … Wash laundry thoroughly."

But nowhere in that exhaustive battery of norovirus dodges was a recommendation to avoid reusable grocery bags. Curious, considering that reusable-but-not-recyclable alternative to single-use plastic bags were recently linked to an unsavory outbreak of norovirus that struck a hapless middle school-aged girls' soccer team.

Maybe they're trying to wipe CA off the map because of projected bailout expenses?

Re-usable shopping bags - another fashionable, goofy “environmentally friendly” habit that winds up being dangerous to your health.

A lot on the left would love to see the human population on this planet taken DOWN to 500million people, that would mean 6billion people would have to Bye-Bye....

Re useable shopping bags. How does one get across to the masses the one simple message that anything proffered by a Liberal, Leftist, Democrat is to be taken with a grain of salt, and that one’s own common sense must supercede any such advice.

They know so much that just isn’t so.

What’s so frustrating is that those people are creating policy. They spend huge amounts of money for projects that sound good in theory but fizzle in practice. And they do it repeatedly. How can they not learn by trial and error?

My wife has about 10 of these in her car, but she never uses them (she forgets to grab them on the way in). There’s only one place she shops that doesn’t have their own bags, but they have boxes handy.

Perhaps I am missing something, but I am at a loss as to how contamination in these bags could be a problem if one practices proper kitchen hygiene.

Well...lookkee here....they sampled 84 bags from LOS ANGELES.....what do these people do? Puke or poop into these bags, carry dirty diapers in them?

Researchers at the University of Arizona sampled 84 reusable bags from shoppers in Los Angeles, the most recent major municipality to ban plastic bags, and two additional bag-outlawed cities. The findings were stunning: just over half were contaminated with some form of harmful bacteria while at least twelve percent contained traces of fecal matter. When the contaminated bags were housed in car trunks for two hours, scientists found the number of bacteria was boosted ten-fold.

Apparently, a small percentage of users don’t sanitize the bags regularly, thus paving the way for replication of microorganisms.

Don’t blame the users for not having common sense. It’s the manufacturer’s fault for not including the directions for proper use and hygiene written on each bag. *Someone* was supposed to tell them that the bags needed to be washed and dried from time to time, but didn’t do so. (sarc if not obvious).

P.S. - Bush’s fault, since these came into popular use while he was Prez.

Common to the Liberal is zeal. The zeal to see their own name in lights. Get the credit. They have a tendency to rush through the planning, the thought processes missing elements of consequence in their zeal to be known, and credited, the pat on the head if you will. The results are always the unintended consequences, the Wile E. Coyoteisms so prolific amongst that crowd.

They just don’t take the time to do the job right as a lot. Major projects by Liberals I’m reminded of the old ethnic jokes of how many such it takes to screw in a Light bulb.

Oh, I realize that, but my point is that proper hygiene, even if produce and food packaging come into contact with microbes, can prevent ingestion of such.
