After Big Sandy, I wonder how many people who thought preppers were "crazy" have changed their minds??

Those are sad images. I wonder, will those who have not prepared to take care of themselves blame the Obama as Bush was blamed after Katrina?

Imagine all those who rushed home on Friday or Saturday and stopped to buy supplies at the store and found those scenes.

We all know that feeling in our stomachs. We messed up by waiting too long. It’s going to be a bad week.

Imagine if the disaster was national and longer term. Those who don’t plan ahead, at all, are going t be in deep kimchi

Good question, but I think the sheeple will blame whoever the MSM leads them to blame.

Kinda feel sad for the food left behind. Like the last person picked for a team.

Not just the milk which, when considered, has limited value. But the tomatillos and bay leaves too. There's some water! Wait.. ew, look at that. No wonder it's still here. Chicken broth, turkey gravy mix.

I'm getting all misty, Mr. G.

I learned where my shortfall was
it was a learning and is an on-going experience.

Prepping
Honestly, it is a life style change that I found difficult to change old habits ; my kids think I am some type of quack , or worse “Rambo “

My son is doing some “vollie” fire rescue/ cold water rescue on Long island , and they’re going to be accompanied by police as there is some looting going on .
Imagine trying to assist in a rescue , and someone shooting at you thinking you are a “ looter “ ?

They have been told that electric will be resumed in 7 - 10 days .

I wonder if this is really true. A week after hurricane Ike in Houston there was still canned goods on the shelves. No milk, fresh meat or produce and the store had no electricity. You had to take your flashlight if you wanted something from the back of the store. It was weird.

Yeah, not planning isn’t good. I have food, water, guns, ammo, NOAA Weather Radio w/ Extra Batteries, walki-talkies with extra batteries, police scanner, camping gear, first-aid kits and cash all stored in my RV. I wouldn’t say I am fully prepared but I’m probably more prepared than most.

The only thing I like about the no-smoking agenda is that there were plenty of ciggies left on the shelves.

Got 5 cartons before it hit. Gotta run now, I have some big time smoking to do.

Imagine what a national infrastructure breakdown, economic catastrophe, declaration of martial law, clamp-down on movement and transportation, etc. would do in just 4-5 days. Urban area bodegas, box stores, etc would be cleaned out in that time.

With no replenishment, riots and civil breakdown follows.

The absolute worst place one could be is in one of these areas. You can’t win against a whole city of what is the equivalent of “The Walking Dead.”

Does anyone relying on a gasoline-powered generator feel guilty? Gee, I hope not! Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right?

Nice not to have to jostle in the stores with those engaged in "anxiety prepping".
These are good trial runs for us to get a better look at where we can improve on what we have.
* More empty gas cans
* Syphon pump (so I don't get a mouthfull of gasoline)
* More candles
* More stored lumber to affect emergency house repairs
Not that I needed any of that, but nice to see the best way to spend ever more-precious (and dwindling) monetary assets.

Being from the hurricane prone Gulf coast, we stay up on storm prep stuff at all times so not to have to deal with the rush of last minute people when the news says “hurricane coming” I just gas up our vehicles and gas cans for the generators. We can eat from our stocks for a couple of months, same for TP and toothpaste, clean water and such. As far as prepping for SHTF, long term survival after EMP, nuke attack or such, we are as screwed as most Americans. Though we garden, we could never live off the land at our ages and physical conditions. Just not having our meds would do us in in a short time.

I don’t have a problem with households having a few days worth of food and water on hand...particularly in anticipation of a big storm,for example.Same goes for a generator.It’s the 50,000 rounds of ammo,the nuclear-blast-proof basements and the weekly night-long drills that reveal some of them to be absolute whackjobs.
